  1. Rwanda is definitely on the right track. I've come to understand that conservation only works when people see conservation as profitable or beneficial TO THEM (not necessarily to the animals). Yeah, I think that's pretty backwards, but there you go. Rwanda is showing that this mentality works– show the community how these animals are worth more alive than dead, and how conserving these animals isn't just good business, it's money for THEM.
We can totally do that here in the US. We actually have already started in the Pacific Northwest with whale watching tours. Before the 1960s and 1970s, orcas were considered only good for target practice by the Navy (I wish I was kidding). But now, thanks to popularity that started with marine parks and then shifting to whale watching tours, we've shown orca conservation is worth its weight in gold. Now people pay good money to see them in their natural environment, and marvel at them.
To quote our wonderful guide Isaac: "Amazing."

  2. How nice to now have a new perspective on Rwanda. Thanks Sam. And I'm sure you brought up the Canadian connection to that historically beleaguered country.

  3. Great segment Samantha Bee it's refreshing to see some people care to show more about Africa and their conservation and humnitarian efforts even with the limited resources the country has much better thatn many richer countries around the globe, kudos to you for deciding to showcase Rwanda to your viewers !!🙏🙂💯

  4. I desperately wish all Full Frontal segments were at least this long. She is at a disadvantage when compared w the likes of John Oliver (who I also love) always having segments less than 5 minutes it seems.
