The “blue wall” once referred to a group of Northeast, Midwest, and West Coast states that, conventional wisdom said, “always vote for Democrats.” Unfortunately for…

Hey, thanks for watching. There's a ton more to this story we had to leave out, even in a video this long: Flint! Bernie! The 2022 GOP primary! But out of all the hours of local Michigan news I watched for this, the one clip I was saddest to cut from the video was this one, about the Macomb County Republican Party. It's a real doozy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sk4QRgzN7yg
Anyway, happy 2024. Election coming up, are you excited? For the election? Between the same two extremely old men from four years ago? Obviously we are. Still, we want to know what you think we should cover before then. What would help you understand this moment in US politics better? Let us know in the comments below. And thanks again for watching.

Low end 5156.
I’m so jealous of Michigan and even Wisconsin. Wisconsin had a 95% voter turnout in 2020 and I’m like 🤯. It means candidates have to work hard to sway the vote and it means that voters really care about their vote. I really hope South Carolina can be like them one day.
good video
As of today Michigan favors Trump by 8 points. That's how the country feels.
Gerrymandering disenfranchises the voters who are discriminated against by how districts are drawn.
Chances are I could’ve returned it to wrong address lol what much could’ve you’ve had back just 100 but man hope I returned it to right one
I never know that my home state would receive this much attention in an election. Most of the time I thought Texas, Florida, and California are the state that gets most of the political attention.
As a Michigander who's been trying to escape this state for years, just know that when you look at me, you're looking at yourself <3 probably
Very good representation of our amazing state go Big Gretch!
I love the way this video is laid out and how clearly the information is explained.
Democrats always win with 99.9%
Trump 2024
TRUMP201620202024, HE IS GOING TO WIN BIG TOO
"A Right to Work law guarantees that no person can be compelled, as a condition of employment, to join or not to join, nor to pay dues to a labor union" Why should people pay for things they don't want?
I´m sad that Karamo got booted. She made winning so easy
I think Saginaw County, Michigan would've also been worth talking about. It is very car manufacturing-focussed area but also includes the wealthy town of Frankenmuth. It's also one of the few counties that flipped in Michigan that helped Trump win Michigan in 2016 but also lose it in 2020.
They voted trump because he’s a man
Trump 24’ baby !
anyone else from 586??? hehe 🙂
it should also be mentioned that the Republican Governor and legislator caused the Flint water Crises. Gretchen Whitmer led the state through covid while Trump attacked her. If Trump didnt politicize covid he would probably would still president and he freed Kwame before the election, voter turn out in Detroit probably wouldve been lower for Democrats.
i know everyone's tired of hearing this. but to me this just says power has shifted, but it's still out of our hands. It's still the rich in power.
The abortion votes could be down to wording
2:05 Why would you want someone that talks like that and someone with the hair of the bottom left person in Congress?
I am a proud Michigander because being born & raised in purple Lansing, MI allowed me to enjoy the beauty of mixed political ideologies while still being grounded in respecting each other and getting the job done. So much of the work I enjoyed engaged people along the political spectrum. I felt comfortable voting 3rd party in some elections. I'm seeing that slip away, and I hope MI doesn't completely fall victim to the polarization we're seeing across this country. Let's make laws based on what people in our state NEED, not based on the "hot topics" in the news around the country. I voted for Whitmer, but I would be more inclined to vote for a less polarizing Governor next election.
