I can tell you one thing. A man without friends is very secure. He learned that most people does not respect him for who he is and therefore selects his people carefully. He better cut them of than losing his peace. If you have no peace in the relationship, you will not find love. That is what he knows, because he does not think in terms of "want", he thinks in terms of "need".
By The Way: Start reading the bible and stop with this scientific bs. I am software developer and when I hear you talking you approach men like they are a toy that need to be used a certain way like a documentation guide or something. If you just love truly you get this useless shit out of yourself and left is you and that you is enough and that for one person only. I am not sure, if he is truly the one for you, but if god approves this relationship will last so pray to him about it.
