How did the Assad regime fall to rebel forces in Syria?

A rapid offensive by anti-regime forces in Syria has ended President Bashar al Assad’s 24-year rule in the country.

Russian state media say the Syrian president is now in Moscow after his family was “granted asylum” after fleeing the country as rebel forces took control of Damascus.

Sky News’ Laura Bundock looks at how Assad’s regime fell so…

All religions and all countries in the world are fighting the religion of Islam and Muslims. This is the reason for the destruction of all Arab and Muslim countries, unfortunately.😢

That still doesn't explain why they weren't met with any significant counterforces. It seems like some decisions and agreements were made behind the curtain.

OR … … … 1. Assad propped up by Rus Iran. 2 . Rus bombs Turk supplied advance. 3. Assad front line too saturated w/conscripts – pee pants, 4. Khmeimim Atakia surrounded; 5. Soviets stop air support in exchange for their lives | An-124 and 3 IL-76 show up to evacuate their S-400 they need elsewhere; 6. advance continues unabated. 7. Free Syria, Southern Room and Al Neesra converge on Damascus simultan; and 8. Soviets need to abandon Atakia and Tartus. If I were Ukraine, there is no way those planes or two Gorskhov class frigates, one Grigorovich class frigate, a Kilo class submarine or the auxiliaries Yelnya etc. would see another bowl of borsht. Attack!

It would still be nothing short of a miracle if they manage to find common ground. The logical next steps for any rational leadership would have been: 1. Foster national unity, 2. Strengthen democratic frameworks through a robust constitution, 3. Develop a sustainable national economy, and 4. Secure a peaceful, prosperous future. Instead, they are likely to be poised to focus on divisive issues such as 1. Invading Israel, 2. Waging war against Hezbollah, with all of it backed by the allure of generous financial promises from wealthy sponsors in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the like.

And there was no opposition to all this city taking then?
Are these new people who have sieved power the people the Syrian people want then? All these relieved and celebrating expats – is it too soon to establish how the new regime is going to affect their lives?
I hope it is for their good and not more oppression . 🤞

Britain's Syrian community are very happy that they can now return to Syria to reshape a more moderate country. In the meantime there are calls for all people travelling from Syria should not be allowed into the UK including released isis troops from the Syrian jails.

The home office and home secretary should now asap immediately with drawl and cancel passports from terrorist or regime Syria travellers fleeing Syria. This will mean termination of passports for the former Syrian leader's wife on grounds of national security. All travellers will be DNA tested and claims in UK courts for asylum from Syria will be reversed or terminated asap.

The 400000 Syrians returning to their country will release some 150000 houses for homeless UK citizens who are freezing on the streets this Christmas.
