@jayy4651

I first found out about what happened under Leopold's rule after hearing Manic Street Preachers' song Red Rubber back in 2016/7. I'm still mad they made that song a b-side, it should have been on the album

Underrated channel

@MouldyMilo

For the algorithm because this message in this video is too important

@knate44

Comment for the algorithm. One of the only things I appreciate about my religious upbringing was playing a small role in supporting refugees resettle in the West. I played an extremely small role in helping a Rwandan genocide survivor bring their family to the west. What stuck with me was how no one talked about how the violence from that extremely f*cked up colonial administration system still harms people today. The Rwandan genocide started over 30 years ago, and people are still dealing with the violence from it today. Every Congolese and Rwandan family should have a safe and loving home for them full stop. I can still picture my friend's face as they saw their family face to face for the first time in over a decade. Every survivor is precious, and we need to really understand what it takes for this to never happen again, for any people.

@foxpro3002

awesome video as always Brigitte

@MrEasyCheasy

9:34 whats elon musk doing there

@SallyLock103emeCaris

Thank you ❤

Thank you for making this, Brigitte. You've done quite a few of these difficult topics, and imo did so well. People need to learn about this stuff, if we're ever going to change things – and I really do still believe that can and will happen. And though I can't possibly know how long it'll be nor how it'll go, at least I do know to expect some growing pains, and when I fall back into doomer mindset, to shake it off. …even if I have to sulk a little first.

@eliseroos4173

This is so embarrassing. We don’t learn the extend of Leopolds crimes in the congo in belgian schools. I had to stumble upon Patrice Lumumbas story by myself on the internet.

Antwerp chocolate hands are said the comes from a folks tale of a giant guarding the antwerp harbor. But the more I think about it of course it relates to congo. Chocolate isn’t grown here, so clearly the treat coincided with that time period. How did I not see it…

@domeplsffs

Thank you for the upload, but i wish you wouldn't have used so many intrusive sound effects. Made it hard for me to watch, due to a over-sensitivity. Still – much love for shining a light on this issue <3

@dreddiknight

Shocked to see someone doing work on this! Thank you for spreading information, that so many are unaware of.❤

@goyoelburro

This channel does not just do great videos on issues affecting the Trans community (as a cisgender guy I appreciate that), but also effectively points out the horrors of capitalism.
You go girl!! You are awesome! Keep the great content coming!

@gemmamarie-ann6606

Great video. Thank you for doing what I'm sure was an extensive amount of research to make this.

@juliancalero8012

It's telling that an anti green talking point is "what about the lithium slaves", when it's possible for mining to be more humane in general with reduced forced demand from planned obselesance, but crickets when capitalism does the same thing as what they accuse the left of wanting from conservatives

@ManicOpake

Great video, super informative and sad. We rarely see anything about this topic

@renaigh

this is what people really mean when they say Communism, no iphone

@chasethechase2298

When I was in high school, we read Howard Zinn and I wrote an essay on Agent Orange for history class. It's still even weird how it was talked about. I really don't understand the resistance to more equitable economic systems and foreign relations

@Braindouchedotnet

tbf I genuinely appreciate the extra bit of spin you put on my name when you read it most of the time

@Bionickpunk

Would be good if you also made a video talking about Rio Tinto and what its gonna do in your neighboring country of Serbia and how EU (especially Germany), UK, US, Australia and China are involved in this colonial ecological disaster in the making.

@airquotescomedian

You left the audio component of the "old timey audio crackle" filter on for a non-sepia tinted segment, otherwise is a crackling video.

Yeah, I'll get my coat.

@quinnwasson2399

I only knew some of this going in. Important stuff. Thanks for shedding light on this subject.

@the_famous_reply_guy

Brigitte the death numbers are staggering from the dualing Empires from the British, Dutch, Spanish, French and German. Behind every Empire was a banking son from one family, an inescapable fact cast in history and the name of the most famous Boulevard in a genocidal colony.

Professor Tony Martin RIP

@aravenbythenamealex

Ive no idea why but that weird siren noise is making it difficult to watch the video and makes me want to cry/throw up every time i hear it lmao

@lawrencehan463

Oof thanks for spreading awareness. Didn’t really know any of this

@Scriven42

The "Behind The Bastards" series on Leopold II and the Congo is very well done, but obviously real hard to listen to..

@kavjay

Excellent video, as always

@kavjay

Would you be open to make a video on the ongoing occupation and genocide of West Papua by the US/Australia backed Indonesian Security Forces? Indonesia (then United States of Indonesia), with the full backing of USA and Australia, invades Wast Papua in 1962 and annex it in 1969. Since the occupation, over 500,000 indigenous Papuans are killed by the occupying Indonesian security forces, and indigenous population fell from 98% to 48%. Following companies operates in West Papua: • BP (British multinational company) has natural gas rights in West Papua (Tangguh facility that supplies 35% of Indonesia’s gas). • Unilever (British multinational company) is one of the world’s largest buyers of palm-oil and much of it is sourced from West Papua (palm-oil is in pretty much everything we eat). • Freeport-McMoRan (US mining company) owns the Grasberg mine has the world’s largest gold reserves and the second largest copper reserves (largest supplier of copper to Australia). • Thales Group (French multinational weapons company) supplies weapons to the Indonesian security forces. • Ziyan UAS (Chinese arms manufacturer) supplies military drones the Indonesian security forces

@ace.of.space.

thank you for shedding light on these horrors that I was woefully undereducated on

@Ophelia381

I don't have the capacity to watch this at the moment because already from the start it's horrific. I don't plan to avoid it, I will watch later, but I figured I would leave a comment for the algorythm in the mean time.

@Sharp22CatFish

Freaky. I'm literally learning about the Democratic Congo in school.

@ShockArcl1te

Stuff like this makes me genuinely hope that hell exists. This kind of evil can't go unanswered. It just can't.
