How BasiGo is changing Kenya's public transport with locally assembled electric buses
Diesel-powered public service vehicles (PSVs) are the most common mode of transport among Kenyans, but they are also major sources of pollution.
Citizen Digital’s Dennis Musau goes inside BasiGo, a Kenyan start-up leading the electrification of public transport to find out how e-buses are assembled in Nairobi as Kenya aims to raise electric…

The interior setup is not good for the kenyan market, I would rather sit than stand.
Good job but based on the demand they should be at least 50 buses a month
The welders need light shield and hard hats. This video can bring you problems.
You need to be in a hard hat my guy
You don't know what you're talking about i would pick diesel train over electric trains any day diesel train is more powerful and aggressive compared to electric trains
The tesla of kenya!
You guys should build metro train stations. Busses are not enough to decongest traffic in Nairobi.
I wish we could add the graffiti and music system to give it the Kenyan touch
This is the kind of development we need to see
Nairobi Bus park terminus which is currently is in disuse is perfect for an electric car, bus, motor bike charging station. The place is perfect to be converted into an electric car and bus charging station. One of the major issues of electric cars and buses is luck of charging stations. This place would be ideal for that. Its located central in the middle of Nairobi and thus can be reached easily from all locations.Electric motor bikes , cars and buses would utilize this as their charging station this would encourage more people to start using electric cars for cleaner air in nairobi. the place would be open 24 hrs.
For the charging you could use turbine as the bus moves or even solar.
Tanzanians still won't see this, if they really want to compete.
Why dont they intoduce salar system as well to increase Milage before changing
Si hii batari wataiba!
Thia is what i used to do in a Germany Mercedes benz company 1964, this country needs upgrade, you are living in the early 1950's in Europe
At least once we can read something that shows progress
Would have been even better if the buses were manufactured in Kenya instead of just assembled.
The government should introduce metro buses as form of transport. This mode of transport is outdated.
Kenya has potential bt politics and corruption hinder that.
It will take a while, but I believe this is the way to go. Kudos for the good work @basiGo
Let them invent to solar so that they can be able to charge using solar
This is the way
The cameraman 🤦🏻♂️
We need to produce , not assemble otherwise kudos for the progress and your professional presentation . ❤❤❤ .
Tell those guys to work on kenyas trains and change them to electric train as well
Ongera bwana Ruto
Hope no more ghetto like shouting, banging on the bus and loud music. Let the behavior also go modern. Don't transfer backwardness to modern services 😂
What is needed mow is more charging stations so as whenever the battery needs topping up .. the stations will be available around cbd…
At the glacial rate of 6 buses a month…
The camera person had one job. We needed to see the bus components but you chose the afro guy. Useless
My opinion is use solar for battery charging to reduce the cost ,,and use the buses for long distances ..
Camera person must be a lady.
You are touring the factory. Can you not even attempt to get the guy doing the welding some PPE when he's on camera?
This is the kind of company that should be getting tax cuts
As an entrepreneur, I have to ask: what happens to the Kenyan-trained scientists and engineers—the likes of Otieno, Marwa, and Mungai—when the founders are people from other countries? If we’re calling something “Kenyan made,” why aren't we highlighting our own local talent? We have skilled professionals right here, so why not complete the entire product life cycle in Kenya, using our resources and expertise? Let’s truly make it Kenyan from start to finish!
We thank the investor for this innovation atleast they will compete with Uganda's Kira EVs Busses
