History of The Ashanti Empire of Ghana

The Asante (also known as Ashanti) are part of the more prominent Akan people, a significant ethnic group in modern-day Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire. “Asante” translates to “because of war” in the Twi language. It derives from two Twi words: “ɔsa,” meaning “war,” and “nti,” meaning “because of.” This name reflects the origins of the Asante…

@EvaAnika

PRE COLONIAL HISTORY IS CRITICAL. AND MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAT COLONIAL OR POST COLONIAL HISTORY. THANK YOU.

@Tete-Atempon-8680

Great

@teanistillmon3341

Q: Can you do one on the Nigerians. I hear that they also were migrants of Ancient Egypt or Nubia.

@kelvinkwarteng1074

It's not Asante rather Osantefuor "because of war"

@Waafu7

Soninke and Alan have nothing in common. The Soninke language is more similar to the northern languages such as mole dagbon languages. So it’s confusing how Akans migrated from the Soninke tribe, totally different cultures and language

@kwabena7537

The hatred some ''Ghanaians'' have for Ashanti's is unimaginable,the other Akan groups are the ones spreading the hate and trying so hard to undermine Ashanti progress.

@KingKong-ee8hc

I’m very proud to be an Asante now I know where my arrogance and self belief comes from ❤

@kaysesama

Kumasi —> ‘Kum’ the tree/ ‘ase’ under the …
It was a Kum tree

@muizzmukkey7930

The fact that these artifacts are not in Ghana itself is such an annoying thing to see.

@deezytbm9645

Stop writing a history of Africans that you don't know, how much were you paid to write a force history that you don't know about?

@jamalrobinson2159

This is what happened in Jamaica… With the maroons, again from Ashanti

@boachie100

The Kingdom that did not surrender, The Asante Kingdom forever reign 💪🏾💪🏾👑💛🖤💚✌️✌️

@FromNothing

Very very good, clean, and captivating presentation. As a fellow African history content creator, I'm surprised I haven't heard of this channel!

Most of these channels get the history twisted. Before Osei TuTu Nyamekese was enstool as a chief of Kwaaman there was no ASANTE.
Is after he brought all the Akan states together and go the name ASANTE.

@ajahkwameboateng510

Correction from an Asante man: Nana Osei Tutu met Okomfo Anokye at Akwamu, not Denkyira. Also, the location of Denkyira isn't at the coast, but 62 miles southwest of the Asante capital of Kumasi.

What a powerful history piaww

@defobenjamin

The Asante Army tactic can be best explained in footballing terms as counter attacking system. Mourinho Vs Pep 2010 ucl game best explains the Asante Army style. It was so modern to the extent that the British army used it in the world war

@whyallthese6805

ASA + NTI = ASANTI = because of WARS. OSA = WAR. NTI = because. OSANTI = because of WAR. ASA is the plural form of OSA. ✌🏾✊🏾

Full of lies

It's no surprise that the design of the stool is a striking resemblance to that of Tutankamun. The Akans and Ancient Egypt have a lot in common. the detail colors on Tutankmun's coffin is very similar to that of the Kente worn by the Ashantis.

In terms of names, Tutankamun of ancient Egypt, Tutu Ankomah of Ashanti, Akhenaten of ancient Egypt, Akenten of Ashanti, Pharaoh Josa, we Akans have Josa.
Amen Ra, the sun god of Egypt, Akans have names like Amera, and Amonwi… Amon is same as Amen, and the 'wi' is derived from wia or ewia, which is the sun.

Many other similar names between the Akan tribe and Ancient Kemet.
