This was a great movie!! I see the victim roles in the comments. Mommy boys!!

@antwaunharris2064

This was light work!! LOL dads back then killed their children for being disrespectful and disobedient.

@HarvellShaquille

He died 5 mins later.

@rhameseshamilton8045

Denzel played the type of father I'm glad I never became

@mauricechaney22

Yeah I've got to be the dumbest people in the world in these comments this is a movie stupid suck yourself so seriously downtown flashbacks be killing me stop telling everybody all business

In this movie the dad was so miserable with himself he took it out on everyone!!

@leonrhodes2119

This was written by Playwright and Author August Wilson. This movie was filmed in August's neighborhood, the Hill District of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

@georgejohnson807

The crazy thing is that usually happens with your mother

@henrylewis7652

I grew up just like this, My mom and step dad are both dead, but I learned years ago that it's not my place to punish anyone it's my job to love everyone. Though they didn't raise me great, they did the best they could, in my opinion, and I will ALWAYS be thankful and love them both for that 😢

@Kristopher-fc7oy

Notice the
Caption says nigger when he said nigga

@mrbigg151

Marlin must be a gold medalist🥇

@pkingperk6628

Hurt people
Hurt people.

@pkingperk6628

This is what can happen to a man in which the hold system is against him.

@eugenekeyes4246

Yet you thought that was being a father in pain made him resent you 😔

@henrylafontant9724

Yes , the character traits Denzel portrayed in this movie were tough to watch , but I challenge you to try to understand, the self destructive challenges black men faced in trying to survive in that era ..

@MOJOverseManny

😂 this shit shouldn't be this funny

@lucmoneyv117

Denzel was such a piece of shit in this movie oh my god

@Dr.Dime13

Denzel so good of an actor bro had me mad at him for a couple months after I saw this movie 😅.

Yall up in these comments having severe flashbacks.

@Kita-ow9zh

The mother was WEAK! She allowed too much to go on

He treated his Son like a obligation..He was his Son…He was obligated to provide and do certain things until he became of age….showed very little love, kindness or compassion..He drove his Son away.. didn't just flee..

That how I feel 😮😮😮

@createyourworld365

“Fences” originally a play by August Wilson.

@JamesLowrock

I never liked movies that showcased high level disfunction… I avoided this movie… And judging by the clips I'm glad I did

@gregoryforte8876

Of All of Denzel's movies, this movie was "Heartbreaking" to watch. Everything this movie came on I couldn't finish it😢😢😢 Denzel was a Evil Black man it this movie! Totally mean and evil!!😢😢😢😢😢😢

@lorrainecook-bey3685

I did not like Denzel character in this movie it was nothing about him I liked it nothing at all just one of them movies

@xxhitmanxx6097

I think cory seems to forget his pops is the equalizer

@tmoney7975

I hate these fake ass movies where the villain win against a bat he was supposed to catch that ass whoopin

@Killedbyblizzy

Terrible father

@samuelsneed7753

I use to judge my dad… Then I realized that a person can only give you what they got or still have left. It's not personal life is hard.ni love my dad and understand. Learning to be a man in a lot of our homes is more about the example of what not to do than what to do. If we can stay logical, we will get it and understand it. We just need to be self aware going forward.

@StevenRocha-w1l

What a shit parent

@TeebTrois

Raising a weapon against your father is a terrible mistake…

@JamesPittman-z5h

True father 💝

@reginaldwoods6615

Yall missed the point, although Troy was a bad father he didnt do his son like his father did him. He was a horrible man, yes but like ole boy mama said at the end of the movie "he gave you all the good he had in him." Moral of the story, our parents arent always the best but they give us the nest parts of themselves.

@juanguerrero6769

Why people on YouTube love to talk like they some moral authority like calm yo ass down 😂 😂

@wavydavy8751

As a black man who dad wasnt there in his life this movie sucks. No better then watching a slave movie.

@Ze5891

dad you would have to kill type vibes

Fences shorts are dominating my feed… I done watched the movie twice in two-in-a-half weeks. LOL

@serfardi

The so-called great actor Denzel, 2 Oscar's and still makes films where he uses the N word and does slizzy characters. Sell Out and a Black Hollywood Plant.

@leelearnsya8619

"You'll have to kill me"
Breaks his kneecaps then walks inside.

@Justme1999-f6u

I know everyone says he was a mean sob in the movie but given the circumstances in the era he was raising a family i feel he had no choice to but be hard and show tough love to his family

@thelionness20

And trauma begets trauma..

@f.burton135

This movie was so simple, no special effects whatsoever but still a masterpiece.

@pericopacino

I seen the equalizer in his eyes when he grabbed hold of that bat

@anthonyclark9441

Humans are NOT perfect.

@NoOne-xb3jo

monkey business

@TwoStacks217

I remember having this day with my father some say I lost but it was the last day he ever put his hands on me

@lawrencedaniels555

He showed the boy that although he's big enough, he ain't bad enough.
