Has The U.S. Fallen Out Of Love With Instant Coffee?

Cold brews, expresso-based beverages and perfectly roasted beans are among the top drinks for today’s coffee aficionados trying to get their caffeine fix. But one segment of the U.S. market has given up ground. Instant…

  1. We buy whole beans from local roasters and we always freshly grind them before we brew them. I can’t imagine drinking coffee any other way, let alone that caustic rust remover they call instant coffee. Anybody who drinks that stuff needs to level up

  2. Not cheap- but Starbucks instant coffee is absolutely delicious and great aroma!!! Just like non instant.just delicious though Peets is my favorite coffee source!!

  3. Americans have access to inexpensive coffee makers that can even be programed or used to brew other things like Teeccino or coffee pot/espresso makers in one, so why settle for instant? Whereas in other places if you don't have the plugs or counterspace, just a kettle, instant makes more sense

  4. I love instant coffee. I've been drinking it for years. My favorite is Nescafe's Original Decaf (blue lid). It's kind of hard to find, there's a Mexican grocery nearby that carries it. My #2 is Nescafe's Clasico Decaf (green lid). It's much easier to find. If for some reason I can't find that then my fail-safe brand is Taster's Choice Decaf. Sure, I get that instant coffee is never going to be the same as a freshly ground coffee, but I think it's a big mistake to consider these instant coffees substandard or inferior.

  5. The most expensive types of instant coffee from nestle taste worse than any of the cheapest ground coffee. I can drink 5-6 cups of espresso made from any brand ground coffee during a day and everything will be fine with me, but one cup of nescafe is enough to make my stomach ache all day and my blood pressure jump to 180/110. I don't know how they do it, but I get the impression that this "coffee" is made from incinerated garbage heavily flavored with synthetic caffeine.

  6. Its many years since we do not taste Nescafé or encapsulated café like Nespresso. Nowadays we brew our own daily Coffee, pouring over v60 method specialty Coffee, which is much better

  7. The problem in many countries is kitchens are generally small, so it seems to much to invest in a cappuccino or brewing machine with no space around, what they have is a frother / shaker (for coffee) and maybe the coffee press (simpler ones) but they will invest only if beans are available to ground. Generally coffee beans are not available in non production areas except with starbucks😂, so no way to ground up, so instant coffee is easy & way cheaper and it matches tea making procedures (that's why instant is popular in UK and almost all tea drinking countries except in south India (were coffee is produced and beans are readily available) or all coffee producing ones in general.
