  1. This recipe is a disaster do not waste your chicken. Trying to roast a chicken on top of a bed of veg will only steam your chicken. I made this tonight, the chicken was cooked (steamed), but slimy, red in the joints, and no hint of crispy ness. The peepers were good. Next time I will marinate the chicken in Harissa and grill it. I give this recipe a 1 out of 5. Maybe British chicken’s are a couple of ounces (pigeons), not American standard roasters. Throw this recipe away!

  2. Hello Mister Oliver. I have a remark for you. Often you refer to H'rissa as " A North African " ingredient, while in fact it is a typically and sololy Tunisian produce. The 2 other North African nations got nothing to do with H'rissa.

  3. Can't wait to make this! Question. It says in the recipe on his website a 1 x 1.25 kg whole chicken? Is that a 2 to 2 1/2 pound chicken? Seems small. Have a 5 pounder will just cook it longer but was curious. Thanks.

  4. I can always count on Jamie Oliver's recepies, they always work out for me. When you want to impress people make this or his chicken and milk recepie

  5. I wonder why I never saw this when I looked up tray bakes. I've made Donal Skehan's version a few times which has wonderful tomatoes popping in your mouth, but this looks like a banger. Next time I pick up some harissa, I'll try this one.
