We follow Dr. Goldberg on a busy Friday evening in the trauma center. In the space of 12 hours, she’ll treat three gunshot victims and perform emergency life-saving surgery on one of them. And since 80% of gunshot victims survive in Philadelphia, Gun Shot Wound gives an authentic look at the daunting process of rehab and often permanent disability.
Meanwhile, Dr. Joseph Sakran shares his day-to-day experience treating gunshot victims in Baltimore and introduces viewers to Brandon Fisher. Brandon arrived at the trauma bay nearly dead with 13 bullet wounds and injuries in almost every cavity in his body. It took a multi-disciplinary team of surgeons and more than 15 surgeries for Brandon to recover.
Doc, I understand your message and there is no way I could do what you do day after day. No way.
You are targeting the NRA, but what can be done in the communities to address the violence? Why are kids killing kids? You didn't put the gun in their hand, so how do you stop the cycle of violence? If not a gun, a knife. If not a knife. a rock. I see this as a total lack of respect for the God given right to life. I don't have the answer, but I don't see how confronting the NRA will stop the violence.
I'm not a member of the NRA or any gun group. However, I have known many cops who are just as sick of seeing the senseless deaths as you.

Not your lane? The NRA has no business advocating for gun violence, by definition, they are about marksmanship with rifles, not shooting humans! It is outrageous that a representative of that group, founded when people were targeting game or for sport, is now advocating that doctors should not address the destruction of human targets of gun violence, is just insane! The NRA has no lane to stand in, unless they have completely changed the focus of their organization to include targeting humans, otherwise @NRA is just making a fool of themself!

im from the country and from a young age thru hunting we are familiar with what a gun shot can do inner city folks arrnt this documentary is making me reevaluate my stance on gun control big time we gotta do better
I come from a Country where owning a firearm is a Privilege not a Right. Last year victims of gun violence mostly from gangs amounted to 4% of the entire population. To us that is 4% too many. God only knows how these medics deal with this day after day in the US. It will not stop until gun ownership is made much harder. I know your Constitution says you have the right to bear arms, but it was written in a different time in your history and has no place in modern society.
Anyone who uses a gun to hurt someone are scared to fight with their hands. Society has raised a bunch of sissies too scared to fight so they use a weapon to end the situation.

I live in the rural south, grew up on a dairy farm, shooting (well, hunting, rather) is a lifestyle here. And yet, even though everyone I know knows how to use a gun properly and takes gun safety seriously, my dad died when I was 4 years old because the gun went off. Bird shot. Tore all through him. He bled out because he was all by himself. Its not just people shooting people, guns are just dangerous.
I was an EMT in the largest level 1 hospital in the south, based in downtown Atlanta, nicknamed “The Meatgrinder.” Gun shot wounds (GSW) were ubiquitous to while working there to a point that cannot be fully described, it was just part of the culture.
I am worried however, it is becoming part of the whole country’s culture.
It's too easy to get guns in our country. No civilian access to AR's and all weapons of war. This is ridiculous.

It's simple, ban the guns, and start an NHS… We've been fine with regards to shootings in the UK, this is a DISTINCTLY AMERICAN problem.

one thing this documentary sort of fails to mention, and i think this is done deliberately by the director to push a certain narrative. is that the areas this a major issue in, the areas this documentary is filmed in. guns, of all kinds. are already ether actually just straight up banned. or functionally banned.
so the issue here is not gun access. especially when you realize that gun laws now are stricter then ever in these places. however this level of gun violence is a relativity new phenomenon. way more people, had way more guns in say 1950. but this level of gun violence was not an issue.
so i think if you actually want to solve this issue. you cant just say "guns bad you cant have one" because frankly, the people who commit these crimes don't care. and as we see innocent people get caught up in the crossfire of that. what you need, and when you ask the black community, which are the ones most effected by this. they agree, that what you need is more police patrols of these communities. you need to get to the actual heart of the issue. because even if you magically got rid of all guns in the county. (which is never going to happen) you'd just end up in the same situation these doctor's collages in London are in. which is that instead of having to specialize in gun shot wounds. you have to specialize in stab wounds.
getting rid of the guns isn't going to fix this issue. because you already have. you already have banned guns in these communities. but black markets will always exist. no matter what you do. and even if you somehow got rid of all guns. guns are just the tool used for actions that would be committed regardless. if its not guns its machetes. if its not machetes its zombie knifes. if its not zombie knifes its regular household kitchen knifes. you need to actually address the issue. and not just go after the tool.
These thing stays in your brain .. trust me, it never go away.
Wanna make an impact? Start by taking the easy money ( welfare) away. Stop voting for the same old thing year in and year out.
Start by emphasizing education, responsibility, and family. Not the new phone, the latest video game or even basketball. You're not going pro anyway. Respect for teaching and law enforcement also must be included. This failure cycle will continue as long as people keep voting for blue politicians.
