Greatest 800m race ever? Three men under 1:42 in Paris Diamond League showdown | NBC Sports

Algeria’s Djamel Sedjati became the third-fastest man in history at Diamond League Paris, clocking 1:41:56 on the 800m to edge out Kenya’s Emmanuel Waynyoni (1:41.58) and France’s Gabriel Tual (1:41.61). #NBCSports#TrackAndField #diamondleague

@John-wx3zn

I did not know Tual was that good.

@MS-715-7Y

This was definitely NOT the greatest 800m race ever! Not by a long shot.

@FERNANDOAMENDIVIL

WOW!

@Spaminator3000

I thought the title was just clickbait, but that was an excellent race. I still think the 2012 Olympic final with Rudisha leading the way is the greatest 800m, but this one is a strong contender for second!

@mertholomy8414

Olympic final 🤯

@user-xg6yc8ho3w

Commentator in love with Wanyonyi. COPE

@Lboogs7

1:41.55 is absolutely incredible

@jujucasar2003

I only ran a 1:58 in HS. Guess i have to throw on a wig and call myself justine if i want to run in the olympics.

The athletes should be wearing their national colors. That more clearly identifies them in the competition and it links them more directly and emotionally to their respective nations.

@AdrienSalvador-b4l

Why did Sieradski slow down mid way? What was his purpose being first

@aliben1005

1 2 3 Viva l algerie Go algeria 😅

@keemosobee3067

Wow!!

@Alejandro-go5lj

PEDS Olympics

@joshmoonXY

I wonder if a trans man can compete with these guys? Doubt it

@Ike-Mi

thats kinda dumb to have a pace maker

@joking6052

Mind boggling !

@mikelifts8251

Rudishas record might be in trouble

@S0ulinth3machin3

This race underlines the greatness of Rudisha’s Olympic run.

@axgoat

Please explain to me why there is a pacemaker.

@HipHopAnime

Lol OK cool we're making video titles like the 2012 Olympic final didn't happen

@Asiansxsymbol

Under 2 mins? Wait what?!! The best I can do 1 km is 4 minutes. 😆 Had they kept going another 200 m, their 1 km would be just a little over 2 mins.

@michaelsacoto2895

The Olympics are going to be insane!!!!

@dkny9954

No. Rio 800s

I have an 800m body :/

@shingtome2179

America, just move to the mountains for four years, then win. 😂

@jorgemacias2785

They were flying. Imagine running a 48.5 400 then having to run another 400 at 50 flat. Hoppel ran 1:42.7 at the US Olympic trials. That time would have had him about 7 meters back.

@brianjohnsadventure

Wow that was insane !!!

@snobbypolitics7792

Greatest? Huge OVERSTATEMENT.

@carlsanders7824

Why do you need a pace setter?? Seems like cheating to me.

That time had me doing a double take

@Real_Michael_Jordan

This was a great race. But I really wish they’d do away with pace-setters

@Marston225

Greatest 800m race was London 2012

@travisblack9519

So, everyone sees the one guy grab and try to pull back the winner right at the end of the race, right? In front of the entire world he did that? And no one is going to call him out? What am I missing?

edit: looks like a couple people in the comments are mentioning it.. but everyone should. cheaters should be called out.

@elchappo1320

800m is overlooked by mainstream for some reason. This race was a classic

@apolokaremera2382

Is Rudisha’s record ready to be touched?

@alexkuntz7784

can’t be one of the best if the top 3 are doping

@AngladaFamilia

Wanyoni was really leaning over to his right at the end. I hope he wasn't trying to knock Sedjati over.
