I really don’t see any contradiction there. They said age of consent is 18. One says any marriage under the age of 18 is deemed void and the other says any woman who’s married is assumed to be of age (which is 18yr). They are taking laws into their hands and it’s illegal. I believe the northerners have a section in their religion that undermines the law. There should be one strict law across the board.

Nigerians don't follow law because those on top doesn't follow the law that's while the country is lawless.
A similar contradiction of the law applies in New York as well.If a woman is UNDER the age of 18 The parents of that child can sign an affidavit that they have given consent to marry.
This is one of the major weakness in our laws. You will be shocked if you read our laws on rape. Just for a start, a woman can’t rape a man in our current laws on rape. Also a husband cannot rape his wife. Another important one relevant to the Busola case is that you must prove penetration as one of the elements of rape. The shocking practice is that you can only do that using a medical report from a government recognised hospital. It means every woman raped must first go to a government hospital for examination. How many women know this to start with? This is not even taught in schools. The trauma from rape doesn’t allow a woman to think logically after being raped. I weep for my country bro.
