Does he even know whats a braai. Don't think she even knows whats a braai.
lol, i've been to some brai's with some south africans, talk about a good time. the fire is the life of the party and their high spirits. its awesome
That's not a braai?
I was hoping Gordon uses Braai to illustrate various cooking methods that would be so cool
There was no bass in the old days only kurper and catfish
Introduced American Large Mouth Bass is traditional Zulu food? 😂
Shuteney..Chutney 🤯
He went to the wrong group to learn…
2:09 add chili cus there are indians here
2:17 no oil this is zulu warrior cooking
I loved the show, but braai and Zulu and eventually Laos?
You braai one thing and you decide to braai a fish
when do we see this end of the week feast he is supposed to do …. i keep hearing about it but never see the actual vid where they all show up to this feast ;(
Lonely know he only needs to run faster than Gordon 😂😂
I’ve never heard anyone “suggest” anything to the chief before🤣🤣🤣
I love how that fish did not move once out of the water. No doubt he did not catch that fish 🙂
He know he's doesn't have to run that fast. He only needs to run a faster that Gordon.
south african here and i love a good braai
Brai is afrikkan gordon any way. sadly this is more gordon grilling a fish rather than cooking it
If I was Gordon Ramsay I would've never gotten anywhere near that lake… People fear predictors like big cats, my biggest fear is a Hippo😭
OMG… cringe…
Thats not braai thats bbQ
South Africa is really one big hillbilly ranch. Every country that visits us sees us differently. For the Germans its a zoo. For the British its a glorified wedding destination. For Gordon its the bottom of the barrel in terms of cuisine lol.
since when is braai-ing a Zulu thing?? lmao.. It's like saying a english guy invented the baguette..
Braai is Afrikaner food.
Never thought I'd see "braai" & Gordon Ramsey in the same sentence.
shes so sweet
Braai didnt originate from zulu it was actually afrikaans and then spread through south africa. But whatever
So cool to see in KZN it is called a braai. Simple ingredients. But everyone goes yeah there is hint of Indian. I love SA in that respect. Everyone calls it a braai. Everyone loves a briyani and a bunny chow. I think no matter the cultural differences in the country, everyone in the country regardless of language. They all come together about simple food. Add some pap!
Honestly, this episode was kind of a mess. They were too invested in the idea of cooking for a chief to be honest about our messy colonial and culinary history. The result was just so flat.
Largemouth in Africa?? So cool
>learns a boer thing from bantus
>braai is a zulu warrior thing
They ruined that poor bass 😫 . Being a freshwater, most definitely have to fillet that guy away from the bone and skin. Little lemon and pepper and salt that's it! Fillets of bass are amazing
Pity his first braai had to be so kak.
well im no proffesional, but tomatoes are south american crop cultivated by europeans, so zulus had no access to it until their collapse… It is not zulu authentic food.
"Quintessential"
Gordon is right to be cautious of the hippos. They kill more people than the big five combined.
Her accent 🥰😍
a braai does not belong to only zulus or dutch or xhosa or boers it belongs to the entirety of south african culture so i believe while the use of spices varies by family and community standards it is not fair to just call it zulu warrior cooking it is south african cooking and the art of braaing is not how you cook something it is a social event to spend time around a braai with your maats en a beer not how you cook something
Zulu cooking with tomatoes xD yeah sure. I love all kinds of cooking but this is not a traditional thing…..
I thought a Braai was traditionally an Afrikaner bbq. I’ve also heard Rhodesians have braais. I can see why it was appealing to settlers to adapt their own versions of braais. Frontier cooking and living.
Chief eats the fish…"nice"😆
Heyy tyd vir n braai ouens
Zola's quite pretty and has the potential to become a 8.5/10 if she dropped 150 lbs
I will tell u when to run 🤣🤣🤣
Zola is adorable ❤️
It's called braai.. Not braai cooking.
