  1. To address the concerns about 2 remotes, the chromecast with Google TV and I believe the new Google TV streamer has IR in the remote, and you can have it set to directly control the volume of your soundbar. So you can have a set where the volume controls the soundbar, and the power controls the tv. No matter if your hdmi tv or cables support it

  2. 37:00 you don't need EARC to control a device via another over HDMI, you just need CEC which has existed since HDMI 1.0 Wiring is mandatory in all connectors but the feature is optional. But most modern TVs should support it.

  3. 16:53 I first saw it skipping an ad on your podcast
17:48 That is really interesting, although I don't think Marques fully understood why. YouTube don't get a cut from direct ads between creators and brands, so would prefer for integrated ads within YouTube, which features like this would promote. 18:16 Andrew got it.
30:32 Where my mind first went
1:28:50 What's David laughing so much about?

  4. Samsung frame and Samsung sound bar with Chromecast with Google TV. I can use the Samsung remote for controlling the TV or Google TV and sound. Google TV remote can modify sound, turn on and off and interact with Google TV obviously.

  5. 38:16 if you connect an hdmi audio splitter like ezcoo ‎EZ-SP22H2EARCO you can split the atmos sound from your chromecast or other hdmi source and connect 1 output to your sonos or other soundbar and the other 1 to the tv. It also does CEC to turn your tv on and off. It doesnt do CEC back to the soundbar so you need to program your remote with infrared volume management. Thats my setup and it works well 😁

  6. Also my Nest thermostat always reads the temperature in the room 1-1.5 degreec Celcius warmer than it actually is. I guess that's a good way to help clients save energy, by making them think there house is actually warmer than it actually is (during the winter).

  7. 38:00 I have the Chromecast as well and I only use that one remote (since I only watch streams). The Chromecast remote can turn my TV on and off, also immediately turns on/off my soundbar (and obviously controls Android TV).
Only thing it can't do for me is select different sources to say put on a different HDMI for my Xbox. So, for that I still need my TV remote.
