  1. Being from Ghanaian decent, funerals are indeed very important events in our culture. Often times more up tempo than other traditional funerals. What Benjamin created even pushed the envelope further with regards to keeping spirits high during tough times.

    Another great video OB, cheers!

  2. Creating a tradition is a genius business move. Like the modern day weddings. And now quinceañera are nearly as expensive as weddings here in California. Disneyland and McDonalds use the same plan, creating one generation of customers that pass on their tradition to the following generations.

  3. Where I am from we do something very similar. We call it a second line. You march slowly to the grave and when you leave the grave you dance to upbeat music. Some Jazz Musicians, when they die, are usually wrapped and the casket is flipped repeatedly. People of all races have these kinds of funerals.

  4. Tbh this outlook on funerals intuitively always made more sense to me. Naturally, grief is to be expected in the bereavement process but funerals as an event IMO should be a celebration of someone having lived rather than the mourning of someone no longer living. Life & death are inextricably connected so what better way to honor the deceased than to come together and relive the memories and experiences shared and the appreciation of having had the opportunity.

  5. This is my kind of funeral. i don't want sad stories. i don't want tears. i want people smiling. i want laughter. i want dad jokes being told. i want people having drinks. a celebration of life instead of mourning death.
