Improvements to Ghana’s public high school system have led to declining enrolments, and closures, of many private schools.
At the same time, many students are spending months waiting to secure a free high school place.
Critics say the wait is causing a rise in social problems, as young people with too much spare time are turning to drugs and…

Who did this report?? He is a devil who doesn't want Ghana to thrive!!

@kingaa5326

Your reporter and the woman you interviewed are all NDC supporters. The free senior high school program has been the best thing to have happened in Ghana.

Ask yourself why the middle and upper class aren't sending their children to the private schools if the government-s Free Senior High School program your reporter and his selected interviewees sought to portray?

@amnestytv9468

No Matter what you do people will not like you. " if free education is not good you can send your child to private school and pay his or her fees period".

@jahadom1885

@Aljazeera ask the woman who is complain about the free shs . Is somebody forcing her to send her son to free shs. If she have the money to pay . She should send her son to private schools and stop that foolish propaganda. she is doing.

@jahadom1885

Aljazeera employ good journalists. You have the money to pay. Did aljazeera ask private schools in ghana why they have closed. if they are doing better than the government schools why do parents have to take their children from private schools to government schools. There are public universities and private universities in ghana and the tuition fee for private universities is higher than public universities. But still people attend private universities in ghana.

@onuaadjei9043

Fake media. I thought you're credible. I'll implore you to do a better research with the right modalities and see what results you'll get on Ghana free SHS. You better shut your mouth if you can't do proper journalism. Fake news.

@graces2694

Free shs Is a good thing, stop spreading lies !!!!

@nellybadek3159

Rather than free SHS, imagine the government built more schools affordable to those who can’t afford and gave scholarships to students who can’t afford the normal SHS. This would’ve given more teachers jobs as well as construction workers without the risk of overcrowding and months at home. Not everything free is good. Last year a batch of students were so far behind because of the pandemic but y’all don’t seem to care because u aren’t the ones in school. Then when private students do better than gov students to call ap)

@Ghanaba23

Probably the reporter for Al Jazeera is an NDC member. This is bullcrap

@festusdansel532

The woman who spoke is a typical ndc sympathiser,so am not surprise but am a bit surprised with her lies that the maximum fees parents paid then was €500….Liar! She is criticising the policy because her party is in opposition..Next time ,ask her to show you one student who smoke weed or is into prostitution because of free shs…Haha…Liar!…There is God ooo…Yooo.

@Abraham_Tsfaye

They have peace in that country yet look at it. They're still poor and undeveloped.
Their youth are fleeing to Europe to sell fake gucci bags in the streets.

@shamsasibey2512

This reporter is evil…He is only spreading lies to the worlld.He wont live long on earth

Private schools should be closed and all these overcrowded Public schools take over those high schools when closed. It will ensure everyone is in school for free.

@adjeikuffor4467

Is a lie the free education is good

@donprincoify

First of all the schools fees before the Free SHS was between 1000 and 1500 cedis not 500 cedis. The Free SHS programme has registered and paid for over 1.2 million new students who otherwise would have also had free time on their hands and got into drugs and prostitution like what that woman said. She is obviously an NDC supporter so expect her to reject or denounce air if she heard NPP say air is good. Also, Private school proprietors who are worried that the Free SHS programme will destroy their business are being short sighted. Instead wishing for a monopoly rights they should adopt the approach Private Clinics and Hospitals in Ghana have used to stay profitably in business. Private Clinics and Hospitals provides better care and services than government hospitals which by the way are much cheaper.That is why most patients who can afford it prefer private hospitals. The fact that someone may not be able to afford Private School doesn't mean their children should go without education. It is so disturbing that the leader of NDC John Dramani Mahama who has brainwashed his supporters against Free education is himself a product of free education from Kindergarten through University. Who born dog?!?!

@earthwonder4885

What cheap reportage laced with propaganda is that, either you so lazy to research what the Free Senior High School is about or you simply reporting what your pay masters who derive comfort and joy in the misery of Africans have asked you to do.
Why attack this noble initiative?
So you think the best option is to allow just a handful students to attend high school and the majority left uneducated and wasted for the rest of their lives so that you can get them as rebels ( fool soldiers) whenever a strong African leader stand against your evil, callous and merciless stealing of African resources right? You got it wrong man. All Ghanaians will have a fair taste of at least High School education.

What prevented you from reaching out to the ministry for an official position on this policy? You think a political moron will find anything good with an opponent’s policy that’s a triumph card and so popular going into an election? Where is the balance in this report?

Seen you guys and your pay masters have seen how ambitious this courageous president has been lunching bold economic, educational and agricultural programs that promise a bright future for this country and can’t stand the welfare of a single African country and are all out against it. Shame on you, you shameless parasites.

Is that why you have lunched a sustained assault on the integrity of this president? You tag him with corruption using some low self esteem good for nothing local traitors us conduits and didn’t wash, yet, you still maligning him. We know your end goal.

This man is clean. You know something?This is very rich coming from Qatar based Al Jazeera. I forgot it’s coming from a country where all humans are treated equal regardless of race, gender, religion. And you this reporter, you sound very, very ‘intelligent’ like you really, really is. A country that sexually abuse women passengers on all planes at the airport only because there has been an abandoned baby at the airport. How ‘perfect’ Al Jazeera carried that news item to the world.

@kdx1214

Do not believe this story, it's a lie.

@lizitordzro800

Al jazeerea or whatever you call yourself, stop spreading lies.

@apapapabiapa763

Do u want ur kids to be on the street selling on the street this time even with all the difficulties the result of free shs students was the best in 5 years

@apapapabiapa763
