INGREDIENTS: pie crust;

* 8 cups / 1240 grams all purpose flour
* 1 tsp baking powder (optional)
* 2 cups / 300 grams ghee
* 1 tbsp fine sea or kosher salt
* 1/2 tsp crushed black pepper
* 1/4 tsp granulated garlic
* 1/2 tsp granulated onion
* 1/2 cup / 120 mlโ€ฆ

  1. So I was very curious about ghee in baking as I bake but have never used ghee.. heck didn't know anything about it. Ordered a jar on Amazon and being that I wasn't familiar with the taste tried it on some toast first. I didnt like it! However I decided I would still try the recipe. Another thing I wasn't too sure of was evaporated milk in the dough because I thought it would make the pastry too sweet. Fast forward to about 11pm last night, at this point I was done baking ( it took a while because I started late in the day plus I made two different pie doughs) and took my first bite. Nanaaba's Kitchen, I throwey salute for you (as my fellow Nigerians would say)! The deep, nutty taste of the ghee did not in any way affect the overall taste of the chicken pie crust, it was absolutely delicious plus IT WAS SO FLAKY which is what I was primarily trying to confirm with the use of ghee! Honestly your recipes have never disappointed when I replicate them and I just want to encourage and thank you.

  2. Thanks for sharing your unique meatpie recipe. Since Ghee is 100% fat ( butter which has been cooked down so all the water evaporates) can the same amount of oil be used? Thanks!

  4. Nana I mostly prepared my filling before I mix my dough . Please what is the purpose of refrigerating the dough? Do I still put in the refrigerator right after working on my dough? . Thanks

  5. Thx Nanaaba fr this demo,but pls u used 300g of ghee fr this recipeโ€ฆ..how many grams of butter(Ghana cook brand) will I use if am doing the same flour quantity u used? I dnt think getting ghee in Ghana here will be that easy
