The reason why the Burundi-Tanzanian border is like that is because of a geological phenomenon, where rivers spread out and two end eventually link together and reroute the river. This leaves the ring-esque lakes near the river that the border goes through. You can see another great example of this in the Mississippi state border in the USA

Reading the recent histories of the Tutsis and Hutus is mind spinning and extremely tragic in many directions. Somehow never knew about the genocides in Burundi, only the Rwandan one.
The Hutus are at least 80 percent of both countries but were suppressed historically as the subservient class to Tutsi. I wonder how things are in 2022.
