Gen Z: Victims of University Scams?
Gen Z: Victims of University Scams?
Joe Enders reacts to a woman’s question: Does anyone else feel misled about college? She worked hard for her degree, but now she’s stuck in a job she dislikes and can’t afford anything. Is learning a trade really a better choice in 2024 than college?

Well, that happens because the only smart about Millennials and the Gen Z are their smart phones.
AND WHOSE TO BLAME?
My dad dropped out of college and went to trade school. And to this day he makes more money than he would’ve if he stayed in college.
Complains that everything is expensive..
Votes blue and expects others to pay for their utopia of “free college, housing, insurance, “
Well do it or not but the way I did it was I handed myself over to God. Say God do as you will with me amen.
The solution to this problem is very simple, and its a wonder that people screw it up still lol if your degree isnt math intensive, dont get it, because those are the only people who are earning a lot of money relative to the cost of their degree. Practically everyone else would be better of just getting a job and avoiding the debt.
I think it’s important for people to know that going to college is different than getting an education
Some kids were tricked into a worthless college degree, wasting a lot of money and time.
Some kids were tricked into a meaningless war where they could die for literally no purpose.
It could always be worse.
Yea but uh I’m blue collar and fucking stressing
Sitting at the fafsa apply when i had plans of being a technician
Felt like a car salesman was helping me apply
Is this ajusted for inflation?
That’s not a big increase in price at all. If inflation was 2% a year, then just to keep up with inflation, university costs should have rise. To $20k, but of course, there was really high inflation in the 80s so my 2% was super conservative. Yet, whiny bitchy braindead people will comment on this short that “we all got ripped off by the baby boomers” without checking the facts for half a second.
Wish i went into the trades. Better job outlook and great money
Glad I went to the military, they are paying for my college and paying me to go, plus I got a good resume now
It can be a miserable time, but you'll thank yourself later
Man i hate this its not like i have a bunch of stuff my grandma never had, i definitely dont live in a capital city apartment for 1000 under. I definitely dont own three really nice tvs, im nit messaging on my $1300 phone, i dont even have that many applinace to save me time. Definitely not a blender, a mixer a juicer, a pressure cooker an airfryer. I definitely dont have a 2k gaming pc. And i definitely dont have all this while working a retail job. Yeah im not doing better than my parent or grandparents at the same age. What a horrible country
I'd love to know what her degree is in..
Bet it's something completely useless.
A trade school certificate or degree will not make life less miserable or make you like your job better. I went to trade school and loved what i did for 7 years before moving on. It cost me 17k in 2012. That was after they applied the ~14k in scholarships i won.
the trade thing is true. a 6-month IT program xosting about $700 at a tech center in my small ass town could land you a job making $25/hr out the gate, whereas a 4-year college education majoring in IT will give you debt for the next 15 years and still that same $25/hr
And a guy with 8800 subs on YouTube is gonna tell me my engineering degree is useless. We’ll see who wins in the long run
College today is a scam, you can get away with being in STEM, but if you don't 100% know what you want to do in life don't waste money going to college to figure it out.
don't blame the universities that are price gouging. blame the people who need a degree instead!
They know were young and nieve and easily manipulated and believe pretty much everything were told. Its all a marketing scheme. Everything that's done in the US is literally in the name of profit
The funny part is the ones who go for a real education are often fine after they get into there career and start to make more than entry level money. Most of the ones that complain went for degrees that are no where near close as attractive as years of experience in the field of study already. And the courses are so easy they joke around and party for years YEARS and then when the check comes they want to complain. People need to understand why higher education exists it exists for specialized fields that requires years of extra learning to even grasp the concept of before even stepping foot in the door. However a huge percentage of jobs will take you in at the ground floor out of high school and 4 or 5 years later when the other people are coming out of college you have the experience in the field. Employers depending on what field it is may take you doing the job for the past 5 years over a piece of paper that says someone should be able to do the job
As a blue collar im laughing at yall 😂
Gen Z gave up because not only were we lied to, but every last attempt to get ahead or find peace is routinely shunned by boomers and Gen X
Lol they fell for it. Such followers. Did everything they were told. Which was all bullshit.
We all got ripped off by the baby boomers.
Inflation 🤷🏾♂️
