Lacking either Ghanaian or Gambian documentation, most are trapped in a legal limbo where they struggle to access basic services such as…

The ghana government deported many Liberian who were born in Ghana few months ago,ghanaian are the most pretentious people in Africa

@Emma_Dadson

One thing I want to make clear to those commenting based on the constitution of the Gambia that one of our parent has to be a Gambian for us to be given nationality is that, Ghana-town is older than the Gambian constitution. Before independence we were here our grandparents voted for independence, we don't prefer Gambia to Ghana but we need to fight for our right to be dual citizen to maintain the legacy of our grandparents, they were men who cross borders during a time when many people have not travelled across their villag is a legacy we want to maintain. I have to be able to boast of being both a Gambian and a Ghanaian because of the journey my grandparents embarked on.
So all the talk about the constitution say this and that are not relevant in our case.

@joseph4400

Ghana is a better country economically, socially and politically than Gambia so go back to Ghana

@MLS5999

They should be given passport because they are partially gambian , which is by birth

@sokladzirobert4337

They can come to Ghana to get Ghanaian passports

@DinoNino-vh4pd

As much I love Gambians, I feel those Ghanaians should be brought home to Ghana. I mean Ghana is way ahead of Gambia in many ways.

These Ghanaians never integrated into our Gambian society. Most of them were born in Ghana. Gambia is a very tiny country with limited resources and I think those little resources should be reserved for Gambians. They already have Ghanaian passport, a free land in the Gambia, means of production, access to basic education and healthcare so why do they need Gambian citizenship?

They must be crazy, what are you doing with Gambian citizenship when you're a Ghanaian. Gambia is a failed state and Ghana is about 50 years ahead of Gambia. What are they doing there OMG 😢

@ghsense2626

Why would they go to Gambia in the first place. They should just go home to a more prosperous nation

We need them in Ghana they are our brothers and sisters❤❤❤

@mosestekper7659

All you need to get a Ghanaian passport is proof that your parents or grandparents are Ghanaians. The Ghana embassy in Gambia should be responsible for that unless the people don't want to be Ghanaians.

@obiyanko2019

Unfortunate. Modern nation states have become problematic for many rural folk who were previously unused to formal borders and visa protocols and traversed sea and land easily to make a living. The days when one could move without a formal visa are over. ECOWAS or AU should address this problem.
Fishermen, herdsmen are unfortunate victims.

@ikekofi605

Why would any Ghanaian live under such conditions in Gambia? Just go back to Ghana for better opportunities and freedom.

@Barcelona123._

I'm a Gambian and the state is not being fair to them…

@odechie

So for the number of years they've stayed in the Gambia, they never bothered to obtain any official documents? Also why hasn't the Gambian authority deported them?

@samirchehaita6487

Gambia didn't try at all. Ohhh wasted opportunities

@arkj9478

Naa bruh I have a Ghanian and Nigerian who are with Gambian documents

@pfynn1

Go and get your passport in Ghana
