I truly enjoyed learning more about Ivy Prosper. I have been following her for years. I was more than elated to watch her on the other side of the couch. 😊🙏🏾
My aunt said to me “if you want to be happy, don’t have children,” and she was right. Children ruin everything. They ruin your finances, your career, your home, your mental health, your sex life, and your social life. The happiest people I know are all child free. African women have been enslaved by too many children. Africa needs a family planning clinic in every village. Only then will Africa progress.
Great interview, both of you. ❤
Women should definitely consider HRT especially if you’re going through the perimenopause or menopause.
All the studies have shown that the benefits mostly outweigh the risks for the majority of women. And the long-term health benefits, including bone strength, heart health, reduction in dementia risks far out way any of the risks. Especially if you have the natural body identical estrogen and progesterone.
I totally relate to the title because this is me. Age 50, no kids, not married and definitely menopausal! I have found my tribe! My moma told me about the “private summers” but this hormonal imbalance and mood swings are very REAL! 😂
It's good to be black 🖤! Sis looks about 34 to me. 🎉😂
Been following Ivy for years as one of my sista Ghanaians from north America who moved back home over 10 years ago! So, just wish a more flattering, nonsensational caption that also included Ghana. She looks amazing for her age and also curious how much she's traveled thru continent especially more in West Africa like Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire, then southern Africa & east etc even Caribbean. More to explore & more potential suitors too! But ya menopause can be taboo and feel woman to woman convo on this more ideal & relatable. Also another factor impacting when it starts or delaying it having the change sooner, is age of first period. Also the number of pregnancies/ children & the 9-10 months of hormones. So one's mom & grandma would experience it later in 50s based on childbearing. Was shocked the 'covid'vaccine mentioned. I'm a Physician and it did impact some women's periods and some who had irregular cycles and were active ended up pregnant few months after shot!
This was a good conversation. Thanks for sharing.
She looks her age to me. Look underneath her eyes and critically at her face.
Not only do men look at younger women because of their fertility as stated by Ivy, the fact of the matter is that most older men are attracted to younger women, because of their youthful looks and "freshnes". At some point, older men are no longer attracted to older women.
This conversation made me emotional. We women go through so much hormonal issues and have to pretend like everything is okay. Especially at the workplace.
Amazing convo. Definitely worth the time. I'm looking forward to the skin line … 50 is around the corner!!
This is not to target Jay, but it is interesting when people in general ask the person who is not picked, why they are not in a relationship. "You are intelligent, attractive, etc, why are you not in a relationship?" The reality is they would probably have chosen someone like themselves if they were of the opposite sex. In their minds, they are perfectly fine. The best people to ask are those who did not want this person. They are the only ones who can really tell that reason.
Jay and Ivy your are special for me. I am really touched by this conversation. Ivy God will provide you. God bless….
I learnt this when I was SHS .
Ivy your POTENTIAL TO MEET A SUITOR IS EVEN HIGHER AT 51 COS YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL/ SMART & can easily meet a rich more mature male in his late 50's or 60's – Without a doubt- more easily in Ghana
wow, she looks way younger than her age. I thought she was in her 30's.
@IvyProsper , in my eyes, this was more than art, so it doesn't surprise me at all to read that it scared you. It always requires tons of courage to step beyond cultural norms and that in fact, is what you and Jay managed to do, in this interview.
Broadly speaking, our culture in GH doesn't reward information sharing and more specifically, such openness in the public square as you felt able to be in Jay's presence; if a little awkwardly. The tendency among us to hoard information partly explains our technological deficiencies. We've been failing to incrementally build on each other's observations and experiences throughout our generations!
I imagine it did require 4yrs of hard work by both of you to come to this space of feeling accepted by each other. I suspect it helped that Jay came to this conversation from a more open culture, where information isn't hoarded, but leveraged and also that you Ivy, came to it from the immersive experience of both Canadian and American cultures, starting as you say, from an early age.
Your explanation of what might have triggered menopause in your body makes scientific sense to me, Ivy. The C virus and more especially the vaccines offered in response to it were so different from anything else we'd experienced en masse that our bodies appear to have gone through traumatic shock, because of them. On that basis, it doesn't sound so far fetched to suspect a causal link between a major change in your hormonal balance and introduction of the C-vaccine in your body.
Kudos to you both, Ivy and Jay. This interview was history in the making. It showcases one of the benefits of building trust between the tradition-laden Ghanaian and the frontier-breaching African American cultures and I say that without judging either culture. Both have their strengths, as do all cultures.
Love you both.
I love her energy and dress.. She look good at her age…Perfect skin… Humans judge what they dont understand..
That dress is sooooo beautiful and is perfect for her skin! Thanks for sharing this information, sis! ❤The sweats are real.
She is 50 ?
I understand whoally to how Ivy feels. I am 54 and I started feeling it around 52 mostly while sleeping. I literally woke up in a panic trying to get to the bathroom to put my skin on the cold granite 😂. Brain fog and all. My hubby is very understanding of this stage.
The " C" vaccine may have nothing to do with it… With research, You can learn that some women experience menopausal symptoms as early as 35 to 40. Now, if you have, for example, hysterectomy of any kind, You will get into menopause EARLY. Again, every woman IS DIFFERENT. Also, the length of time in menopause is DIFFERENT for every woman. If your mother can be truly honest with her experiences, You can ASK her. African mothers are reluctant, unfortunately, but we can encourage them to open up!!!!
PLEASE do not concern yourself with what people think!!! Not every natural born female is meant to be a "mother".
Ah, yes, This fear thing is of the devil. We must reject and rebuke it. For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of Power, love and Sound Mind, 2 Tim 1:7. Fear is a spirit that we should not entertain because it does not come from God. 🙏
Courageous conversation, but it needs to be had.
Wow!! Love this interview, thank you for sharing your experience!! Iam 50 and I also cut out coffee and alcohol completely!!!
Wow 50yrs plus? She's Blessed. She looks.amazing
