Why is Greta Gerwig talking? Or even considered worthy of sitting next to greats like Michael Mann or Todd Hayes as a director she made Barbie ffs… Woke box ticking
What a great conversation 😮
"Don't tell, show. Telling is a waste of time" 32:10
Making a film or rather succeeding in any field within this industry takes enormous amounts of dedication and determination, so when I see this amazing people talking about their experiences I know for a fact they mean every word they say, my absolute respect and appreciation for this directors who got up on the horse and didn’t stop till they finished the race.
I could listen and watch Greta Gerwig talk for hours.
the real heroes are the people sitting in the back who just totally ignored all of this going on during their dinners
Something about Ava reminds me of Angelina Jolie
the crew are real ones to not laugh at Bradley Cooper pretending to be that man when he’s trying to direct the movie lol
I dont think i'll ever watch Origin…did anyone see it? Is it worthwhile? Too bad duvarney was roped into doing a project on a book she says she didnt understand the 1st time she read it
Basically, kids sitting around trying to learn from Michael Mann….
Thanks for sharing so many great experiences. It is amazing to hear all your struggle and final success…
hands down, the best roundtable conversation i‘ve ever seen 👏🏼
Half of these idiot Directors should NOT be there. Especially the women… and I’m a woman. These women know they are ONLY there cause of the stupid Oscar quota. What talentless losers.
Mann for heat'95 🔥
Speechless! A conversation that looks like a conversation with old friends receiving new members in the Club, so priceless!!🙏
I love Ava DuVernay. Her last two films have lost over $100 million. She needs a hit if she’s gonna keep showing up on these roundtables.
Where the hell is Christopher Nolan or Justine Triet? Why did THR switch to a moderator that is so boring and asks such uninspired questions?
This is the oddest installment of this series. Of these directors, only Greta Gerwig made a financially successful film, and only Bradley Cooper (Maestro) was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director. Otherwise this is a collection of film directors and films that Bombed big time at the Box Office (combined budgets of $328 million vs $59 mil in returns.
Why were these the directors and films that were spotlighted? I wonder.
Does Greta Gerwig have tenureship on this show or something ?
Great directors conversation. Such creative problem solving film artists.
I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation but I was disappointed that no one acknowledged that Ava Duvernay and Blitz Bazawule face that many more obstacles and hurdles to their success due to pervasive persistent systemic racism. I thought that both Ava and Bltz were incredibly generous in not pointing it out to the larger group.
cool
Amazing group but where is Nolan?
What does "tie-breaker" (Greta G @ 37:07) as opposed to "final cut" mean?
I just love Ava Duvernay's brilliant mind man. What a filmmaker!
Michael Mann is a giant director ,one of the very best ! his films are classics ,not only HEAT but also COLLATERAL, THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS, PUBLIC ENNEMIES, ALI etc.. ! he is a true visionary master ,it's only fair that these young directors around the table payed him a tribute, his talent and commitement to story telling is an inspiration for all directors !!
none of them were nominated for best director this year
Awesome conversation as usual. 😊
Get some new faces tired of gerwig and cooper all the time.
✊️⚘️
I’m here for Ava. I’m a fan of her work. She really impressed me with Origin. I read Caste and it’s such a dense book. Her approach in making it, writing the screenplay is so smart. I loved it and her, even though she blocked me on Twitter 😊.
Great interview for many reasons. I appreciate hearing the testimonies of the struggles. They are inspiring. These subjects believe in themselves and their content. That’s my takeaway for pitching and eventually selling my book.
Are those actors in the background or you thinks they’re actual customers?
Fantastic interview-makes you want to work with every one of them.
What a wonderful way to spend an hour.
What does Yvonne actually do – does she bring the guys their drinks.
No Scorsese?
Love seeing everyone giving Michael Mann his flowers! Can’t wait for Heat 2!
One day, I would love to see a Filmmaker Roundtable with some of my favorite Legends:
1. Steven Spielberg
2. George Lucas
3. James Cameron
4. Ridley Scott
5. Christopher Nolan
6. Quentin Tarantino
7. Vince Gilligan & Peter Gould
8. The Duffer Brothers
9. Gareth Edwards
I want someone to look at me the way, Bradley Cooper stares at Michael Mann, such admiration😊
Guillermo ♥ Se nota que además de talento, tiene un gran corazón.
