Florida school asks parents for permission to have a Black author read to students

A permission slip from Coral Way K-8 in Miami is causing controversy after the elementary school sought parental consent for a “read aloud” in which “students will participate and listen to a book written by an African American.” WTVJ’s Jamie Guirola reports.

  1. Stop making this about a black author this is just what everyone needs to pay attention to. This is the same tactic the alphabet group used to get rights and are now in our children’s schools. Don’t let the black man in a suit fool you.

  2. ALL YOU SHEEP THAT BELIEVE THIS NEED TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND ASK WHY YOU ARE SO FILLED WITH HATE AND WHY YOU CANT SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN INK. this was a disgruntled parent that made this up and youll see it on the news . you are all so pathetic its crazy….iam glad that this got to show us who cant think for themselves

  3. The only way this is ok is if a permission slip goes out for EVERY event that isn't teacher lead. The fact the person reading is Black is irrelevant. If a White or Asian was reading you'd have the same issue. This is stupidity at the highest level, but that's what you get out of Florida. There is a reason that state is the butt of most US jokes.

  4. Also parents…you should be well aware of what your kids are being taught. Nothing controversial about that, unless you just don’t care, and in that case you’re the problem.

  5. Parents these days have got it all backwards. You should not treat public school as a daycare for your children. If you want to indoctrinate your kids, have them homeschooled.

  6. If this is real, I see it as wrong. However, take a long look at the actual permission slip, and the differences in handwriting and ink. I’m 40, and I remember bringing home permission slips to my mother for school field trips that were completely typed out except for the student’s name, the parents name, the parent’s signature, and the date. That was 20+ years ago, and they brought it back to handwriting after all the advancements in technology? It doesn’t even say what school it is, just Miami-Dade county public schools. It doesn’t even say what author it is, the principal/superintendent, contact information for the school or any other details. Florida parents feel free to elaborate on this being a common thing you experience and enlighten me please. Otherwise this looks suspicious.

  7. I think they're really starting to lose their capacity for self-awareness and some of these places. The racism is so freaking blatant it might as well be emblazoned on a 5,000 ft tall sign

  8. Standing with parents against a corrupt school system. With Activist  including such “topics” as intewsectionaoity, Queew sthtudiesth and Boack livesth mattew, parents can’t be too careful.

  9. How are the comments so stupid. This is a publicity stunt from the administration in order to make the new law look bad (Miami-Dade is blue). You realize there are schools with mostly black teachers and they never sent a permission slip? This is OBVIOUSLY not required by the Stop Woke Act.

Read the law yourself, the full text is literally online. It says you can't blame people for the crimes of their ancestors or other people of their race. It doesn't say you need a permission slip to tell a story.

  10. They never had to send a permission slip detailing race. Theyre trying to act like blacks arent allowed to teach when in reality, a lot of the teachers i had were indeed black. Hmmm
