  1. That's so sad. May their souls rest in peace.

Governments have challenges with handling population explosion to the urban cities especially the capitals. Strict and tough laws should be put in place and implemented to force such people out of unplanned settlements.

  2. It's the climate apocalypse baby humanity is going to keep on getting these kicks in the gut until we can learn to live more sustainable lives. Funny how everyone sheds tears for events like these but nobody wants to stop meat consumption or not fly to every exotic destination that they desire human beings always want to have it both ways.

  3. Evavuation and relocation plans, and Emergency Response and Managemt Agency seems non existent. Most African countries better start having serious and functional Emergency Response plans for natuyal disasters such as this and famine, or even wikd fires. Invest the millions politicians eat and wasye on luxury vehicles, allowances, xorruption, trabels abriad, and political celebrations and kick backs. This is sad state of affairs to sau the least. And we see some recentky talking About Nairobi is New York of Africa! Really?

  4. Zero zoning laws, mass urbanization sponsored by capitalistic avarice, perpetual corruption by the Naibori centric governement & chaotic slum architecture, I am not surprised by this human-led distaster. All those Kenyan engineers and very few them are afforded the opportunity to solve our infrastructural issues.

  5. My god! The world is getting flooded while I'm here in south east Asia suffering from heat waves and aslo in south Asia and it is a matter of time till the monsoon season comes.

  6. This is why I say that I'm sorry about what's happening to the Palestinians, but every nation in the world right now has problems of its own…… big problems. I'm sorry but Israel and Palestine they're on their own.

  7. Sasa ona the way our votes are making us pay…we were told clearly choices have consequences. These politicians knew what was coming based on meteorological reports and said they would pray instead…sasa ona

  8. Journalists should consider investigating whether the flooding we are seeing in Nairobi is a result of the current county Government allowing the reconstruction of buildings on riparian land that were demolished by the previous county Government.

Riparian land is land on the natural flow path of water when it rains. Riparian land is documented by Civil Engineers, surveyors, etc.

When buildings are built in riparian land, the natural flow of streams, rivers, etc is blocked. Thus, when it rains, the type of flooding we are seeing may be a direct consequence of blocking the natural flow path of the streams, rivers, etc. Thus, Kenyans in Nairobi may be suffering the consequences of the county Government ignoring the advice of people trained to determine what land should not be built upon.

The fix, of course, is to do what the previous county Government did. Demolish all buildings that have been put up on riparian, remove the debris and then clear a path for the natural flow of water when it rains.

  9. It's enough, Africa must finally start to reshape the country itself using its own strength and money. Yes, there are already a lot of people there who are doing things on their own, but innovation needs to be increased. I know that they will make it and I am full of joy and confidence, hope. I mean, it´s not about this flood ist generall. Now is the time too generate new and better things.

  10. The Kenyan "president" is too busy opening an ultramodern office building for members of parliament to give a hoot about Kenyans. His priorities are contemplating a new jet for himself and Kshs 200miliion donated to Sudan the other day. His modus operandi is to say all the right words with bluster and pomp then follow with no action.

  11. – We live in the same climate as it was 5 million years ago –

I have an explanation regarding the cause of the climate change and global warming, it is the travel of the universe to the deep past since May 10, 2010.

Each day starting May 10, 2010 takes us 1000 years to the past of the universe.

Today April 25, 2024 the state of our universe is the same as it was 5 million and 99 thousand years ago.

On october 13, 2026 the state of our universe will be at the point 6 million years in the past.

On june 04, 2051 the state of our universe will be at the point 15 million years in the past.

On june 28, 2092 the state of our universe will be at the point 30 million years in the past.

On april 02, 2147 the state of our universe will be at the point 50 million years in the past.

The result is that the universe is heading back to the point where it started and today we live in the same climate as it was 5 million years ago.

    Mohamed BOUHAMIDA.

  12. Mathare slum. A real tragedy.

Rich neighborhoods such as Karen, Runda, Kileleshwa will never face such tragedies.

Massive corruption derailing progress in Kenya with chief corruption officer at the helm.
