In the 1947 Frank Capra Christmas Classic Clarence orders a Flaming Rum Punch, but he never gets it, but what if he did? What drink would it be?

Flaming Rum Punch sort of tells us everything we need to know about this drink, it’s a rum punch and it’s on fire. If you take the word “Punch” literally it has a fairly specific meaning (similar to…

  1. Five billion years late, but I think you'd enjoy "The Hebrew Hammer," which is a delightful homage to blacksplotation films with a Jewish-Kwanzaa alliance to take down Santa's rogue son. It's a Very Jewish movie, so you might need a local Member Of The Tribe if you aren't well-versed on our weirdness, but it's fantastic and hilarious, and references good ol' "It's A Wonderful Life." Not for the kiddies, though! Strictly grown-up time. Though lighting up a skinhead bar is an all-ages activity in my family…

  2. Just at the off handed comment about a boilermaker, I'm an Aussie and the only boilermakers I've ever had here have used a pot of beer, which is 285ml or 10 ounces (Imperial not US), which I think fits a lot nicer than a pint of 20 ounces, though it is possible that a seven (7 ounces) or pony (5 ounces) might actually work even better

  3. My favorite Christmas movie it's kind of hard to Define. This is the one I most enjoy watching or the one we ended up watching the most cuz like in any house where there is more than one child those two are never the same thing at least not consistently. My favorite Christmas movie is Garfield Christmas special from the late 80s or early 90s. The one where the crazy grandma has recently lost her husband and there's a cute moment with Garfield going to sit on her lap when she starting to feel sad.

But very often we ended up watching Miracle on 34th Street or It's a Wonderful Life. Occasionally my grandmother would win the argument we would watch something with Frank Sinatra in it. Don't get me to lying I don't remember what any of those were. The only one I remember specifically was probably Christmas of 95 or 96. Grandpa put on the movie Guys and Dolls while the family was having dinner it wasn't quite Christmas day but was in the lead up to it. And it was the first time I saw my grandpa singing to my grandmother. They had their troubles but that was the first time I really saw that they did love each other. I grew up with my grandparents and they always had a strained relationship. but that Christmas I got to see Grandma laugh and smile and dance. that didn't happen very often for us. Lost my grandma in 2020.

  4. Soon I discovered that this rock thing was true
Jerry Lee Lewis was the devil
Jesus was an architect previous to his career as a prophet
All of a sudden, I found myself in love with the world
So there was only one thing that I could do
Was ding a ding dang my dang a long ling long

  5. My favorite Christmas movie is A Muppet Christmas Carol. I have been watching it every Christmas Eve since it came out. I think I was three at the time. I also love White Christmas and would watch it with my grandmother, but I haven't watched it since she passed.

  6. My family loves the Prep and Landing short movies they put out a while ago, but the one that we pretty much instantly fell in love with when it came out was actually the live-action movie that Netflix put out: The Christmas Chronicles. It's not so much a game-changer or anything like that, it's just a very well done movie, which is a lot of fun to watch.

  7. It's a Wonderful Life was inspired by the founder of the Bank of Italy who uncharacteristically loaned money to immigrants. Other banks who catered solely to the high end wealthy corporations looked down on him, and tried to ruin him. Eventually, his bank became Bank of America.
