Family VLOG in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia l Medical Tour l Botanical Garden l Day in the Life

We have been living and working abroad for ONE MONTH as foreigners (expats) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia after moving from the United States of America. In this video we take a tour of medical facilities, hike at the botanical gardens, visit the International Community School’s market, and explore!

This video also features @ICSAddisEthiopia…

  1. You guys seem to be having fun out there. You right your husband looks like a typical Ethiopian. As we Ethiopians like to say " Everybody in the world has some Ethiopian in them since we believe life started there. Are you guys from the DMV area by any chance? Your husband looks familiar to me. Have fun and stay safe.

  2. "Crazy white people stuff" 😂😂😂 i have white and asian friends and we go to hiking pretty much every Saturday mornings 😂 and am Ethiopian living in the States. Eaton canyon see you Saturday 😂

  3. You are very nice, you are our young African American sister. You often show us beautiful places and good aspects. If you show us many good aspects of Africa like you, I think it will be very entertaining and give us a good understanding and image.

  4. I was just going to comment on your last video saying that! I just had an overwhelming feeling that you all really belong there like you were 'returning home' even though I know you're not from Ethiopia. Idk if it was the way you filmed, your families demeanor, or just a feeling but it looks like you all are home 🙂

  5. I think you guys hit the spot. Ethiopia seems to be what Sosua, Dominican Republic was before the invasion of mass (not good type) of tourism. I'm sure your kids will have the best upgrowing possible in places like this. Love the channel, keep up the great work, one love!

  6. Hi great info..would have been great if you gave us an idea of cost (in birr) ..i've heard medical care in ET can be astronomical. Like how much for ER visit or basic health exam etc? Also would be nice to know about dental care..where the clean/reputable one's are etc. thanks.

  7. My top 5 recommendations
    1. Unity Park (zoo, former rulers palace, shopping, restaurants (try Kategna), children's playground & lots of history) It's a steep landscape (get ready for some cardio). Try to visit in the morning (could be raining in the afternoon). Costs 7× for foreigners (a local guide may help you pass as Ethiopian)

    2. Entoto Park (try to watch some videos online beforehand)(try to visualize the whole area on Google map b/c it's very huge)
Horse riding, golf cart, camping, zipline, Art gallery, telescope city view, trampoline, wall climbing…
Get ready to walk a few kilometers as there is no transportation inside. Start from Sululta gate and finish at Dilber(from top to bottom). Sadly, it doesn't have many visitors these days.

    3. Gast Entertainment
The whole building is for entertainment for all age groups. Lots of games to play & compete with your kids. Plus, it is a great neighborhood with a nice view. You can take a walk from there to Feyel Bet Summit.

    4. Addis Ababa Equestrian Stables
It's a great spot to learn horse riding; it's not far from your neighborhood (next to Abo church). It would be a great hobby once learned.

    5. Ping pong for Children
A good place to teach your children table tennis, it's free of charge, good training, socializing with ambitious local kids. (it's located in a condominium Jemo 2) and opens at 3:00 pm, call beforehand for a better experience.

  8. Ethiopia is a great place to live, Unfortunately racism exists among Ethiopians because there are over 80 different languages and cultures in Ethiopia. Each one of them wants to be in power and fight each other.
You have a beautiful family, Love watching your videos.

  9. Yes for the fashion show! Nah it definitely gets cold on that side of the world. When I lived in eSwatini/Swaziland it was COLD! I remember the 1st time I saw frost on the cars/ground.

  10. Just a suggestion, take your kids to Abrehot library. I'm sure they will enjoy it. There is also a big playground and a park called 'Unity Park' nearby.

If you are going to spend time in the park, it will have to be a day of activity on it's own. Actually going to Unity Park is not just a one day visit, it's the kind of place you get up and go whenever you feel like you want the kids to have an active day. Just make sure to go on a Saturday as they will be having a water fountain show at around 6pm, you don't wan't to miss it (trust me).

All the best to you and your family.
