Which other rare martial arts should have been included on this list?
where is pankration?
Japan's freaky ass
I'd heard of a few of these from Deadliest Warrior
Bartitsu is a martial art that combines two of my favorite things
ssireum is pronounced See Rum. that E from the many is just terrible romanization of korean that needs to change…
You could build so many cool fighting game characters around these.
Fun fact about Angampora: This martial art is mainly used for war, while self defence is an aspect of Angampora, it is mostly used to kill the attacker. A master of this art can easily, paralyze temporarily/permanently, or simply kill the opponent in a matter of seconds. There is also an entire sub-genre fully dedicated to this, called "Maru kalaawa" or the art of death.
Another fun fact: During the start, and the middle of britain's colonization efforts, generals used to give explicit orders to their troops so seek out "well built" males and females from a suspected villages to be shot-on-sight as Angampora practisioners were so good at ambushing and smoking entire convoys of british troops.
I wonder if Dambe has inspired a movie scene that was later parodied in another movie scene
Dambe was created by the Hausa of Nigeria to practice spear and shield war techniques. That's why it's called the "Spear Hand" and "Shield Hand."
Theres rankeln from austria…worth to Check it out
You should do another one, including kollellaullin by the Mapuche in Chile.
Ive been investigating the rare martial art bakom(bah-comb) strangest part is that i never heard anybody talk about bakom when i lived in peru for 6 years in Lima, then i investigated and it is illegal to learn or practice. Love the accuracy but he butchered the speaking 🤣🤣
The steps that Abir are doing are in American Capoiera and breakdancing …. He was a rapper …….
Bro I did not knew about Bakon and I am PERUVIAN
Thank you for including Bartitsu. To many it may seem antiquated, but in practice it is a very fun way to learn self defense as well as get/keep in shape.
Cool mate.. all my fear is gone 😅
Hey man I really like your videos can you please reflect some Indian martial arts like gatka and kalaripaytu in your next videos.
hojojusto 😏🌝
Ahaaha Abir looks like the Nascent form of Bullshido
I belong to the Igorot tribe here in the mountains of Cordillera of the Northern Philippines. We have a martial arts called "daban" which means fight. No rules, no specific method and there are no official documented details about it. Men were chosen among the most muscular and fit ones. It was also focused mainly in conditioning with the use of force manual labor implemented by tribal leaders among men, tug of was, arm wrestling and etc. It was used during tribal wars between different Igorot subtribes. Weapons and empty hands were considered under the umbrella of "daban". Headhunting where one beheads his enemy with the use of jungle bolo or "gaman" headhunting axe is considered "daban". The empty hand technique looks like a combination of free style wrestling, rough and tumble style and modern street fighting style. It is one of the reasons why the Spaniards were not able to conquer the region. Modern Filipino martial artists dismiss it as a martial art because it was solely used for survival. Unfortunately, us Igorots in the modern era do not practice it anymore since headhunting and tribal wars were outlawed later in the 60's and some areas of the Cordillera only showcase it in festivals and special celebrations through exhibition fights and shows as part of the program.
In one of the books Sir Arthur Conan Doyle said that Sherlock Holmes practiced Bartitsu but misnamed it as Baritsu.
where's Esgrima Crioula?
I can't find a Tire Machete class near me. Kinda bummed
Defendu by William Fairbairn
abir translation is actually knight, but great video
Luta livre literally means free fight
I only ever want to see these styles used in the ring/octagon. Thats the only way to test their merit.
Imagine your sensei releases a diss track roasting other martial artists
Rough and tumble is basically street fighting
Yo this is actually sick, love seeing martial arts from the west, south America and Africa. People so often forget martial arts are a part of cultures all over the world, not just Asia.
