Elon Musk sues ChatGPT-maker OpenAI | BBC News

Elon Musk is suing OpenAI, the makers of ChatGPT, arguing it has breached the principles he agreed to when he helped found it in 2015.

The lawsuit – which has also been filed against OpenAI boss Sam Altman – said the firm has departed from its original non-profit, open source mission.

It said instead of trying to “benefit humanity” – as it…

  1. It's obvious kids are being deliberately failed in education – they leave school with no common sense and no skills to speak of – meanwhile AI gets better and better – we are lining up a while population of useless eaters – you know how that ends…

  2. Elon Musk's support of an autocratic government is an ACTUAL threat to mankind. I can't take a complaint seriously if it comes from a man who would colonize an uninhabitable planet or sell us cars that require half a day to fuel up. Musk is not emotionally developed enough to advise other human beings or give advice on existential issues, the man still purchases prostitutes for crying out loud. Giant babies should not be given so much attention. It even sounds weird when you keep calling him Mr Musk, it's as if he doesn't deserve the appellation.

  3. The last guy/people that developed something for humanity, was Dr. Jonas Salk. For everybody else, it's always been about the money. Other wise, they would give it away. Just like Dr. Salk gave away the cure for polio.

  5. Most of the digital presence these days comes from some former student with status and an idea out of hundreds of other individuals who couldn't create it on their own due to a lack of tools
Where are people like from the early days of Microsoft and computer technologies?!

  6. Like Elon gives a sh*t about humanity. He didn't make electric cars for the people, he took someone else's invention and made a quick buck.

  7. Elon musk is a rather controversial guy these days. Imagine the sourcecode being released and russia getting their hands on it… Yeah thats sure to help everyone. OpenAI is more responsible, by not doing just that in these uncertain times.

  8. Humanity wont survive ai. Almost nobody understands the danger and wont until its far too late. I mean heck look at these comments…couldnt be more ignorant if you tried…

  9. BBC is so bad, should the host really be choosing sides? It is meant to be impartial, specifically calling out meta, twitter and tiktok saying they are doing a bad job

  10. The recent comments by E Musk supporting Putin are a clear result of his background from a country with an apartheid regime, and a Nazi policeforce which is his ideal system. It is time to condemn him on all social media platforms and initiate a worldwide boycott of Tesla cars NOW.

  11. I think right now we are just in the preparation stage of AI being a benefit to mankind. Many people don't even have the right computers for AI, and even if OpenAI are sued, OpenAI hasn't given anything to mankind yet.
