what happened to the female elephant did it die of starvation lions would have attacked the calf first before the mom?

That mother looks as the same size like calf….it doesnt look like a large adult elephant…look at the feet fighting off the lions…somehow it doesnt look real….the lions look as they were eating a young calf not an adult elephant…
So sad for a baby to go through..I wonder if it is truth that a elephant got killed…how can the lions pulled down an adult elephant…poor baby…it looks he doesnt need milk but his mother…shucks so sad…
