Vetting is obsolete anyone who claims otherwise doesn’t know the struggles of people being vetted go through. There should be no need for it provided the person presents valid birth certificate, primary/secondary certificates and ids of parents. It just breeds corruption like kama wewe ni msomali uniambiwa live by vetting officials lazima utoe chai ndo wakufanyie mambo rahisi otherwise they make the whole process hell even if you have every single document that can prove your ‘kenyaness’. We are not guests in kenya and we deserve equal treatment kama vetting ni lazima basi iwe for everyone.

What Keinan is not telling us that a lot Somalis from Somalia have acquired Kenyan IDs illegally which is not right. Ajuran, Degodia, Garre, Murule, and the Ogaden who includes Abdalla, Awudiwak, and Aulian all straddle the borders of Kenya to the neighboring countries. As you are aware Somalia has never stabilized since Siad Barre regime collapsed in 1991. Again, the Ethiopia Ogaden region has never fully stabilized and enjoyed peace. This being the case why would you think they would not love to register as Kenyans to enjoy the peace here and avoid the ever present turmoil in their land.
We also have many Somalis also with relatives in Somalia. I know also of Somalis from Somalia who hold Kenyan Ids and passports.
Vetting is a form of exploiting Kenyans by targeting certain races to manipulate them into giving the government officials bribe.
Vetting these certain races goes from getting an ID and later also vetted when getting a passport and later when renewing a passport or getting a new passport and during these process you are pressured to bribe the officials.
My question is why do you vet them every single time ?
Isn't vetting only one time when applying for an ID ?
It's not vetting but massive corruption n money laundering so the normal kenya won't get identification card easily

Fellow Kenyans, I believe this issue is being misrepresented. It’s not that we are against vetting—vetting is simply the process of verifying an individual's identity, which is completely acceptable. However, what has been happening in Northeastern Kenya is not a straightforward vetting process but rather a tedious and unnecessarily lengthy procedure. In some cases, it even extends to subjective determinations, such as one's age being decided by those conducting the vetting.
I speak from personal experience. During my vetting, a security officer in the room determined my age, and since I was preoccupied with other matters, I did not notice what they had written. It was only when I collected my ID that I realized my recorded age was not my actual age. Now, I am officially aging according to a pre-determined government record rather than my real birth year. This process was not based on any thorough background check but rather on appearance.
Vetting extends beyond ID applications—it also affects passports. Imagine asking a 70-year-old grandfather or grandmother to bring their parents as a requirement for obtaining a passport. Where would they possibly find their parents? This kind of vetting is impractical and unreasonable, and I believe this is what His Excellency has considered improving for the better.
We are all Kenyans and deserve equal rights. Any positive step taken by our leaders should be welcomed, just as we should also speak up against any harmful policies. Supporting fairness and efficiency in governance benefits everyone.

You proof you are a Kenya by producing your parents ID cards and birth certificates.
There is a system in Nyayo where they put your birth certificate or ID (when applying for PP) and the system will reflect the originality of the documents.
Even in Busia we are subjected to vetting. Which is okay with us. Only true Kenyans should be issued IDs not our enemies.
