@2:30 Such a great point. Women generally, and Black women and women of color particularly, have been socialized to be Selfless Caretakers. Self care is absolutely essential.
Hello there. Many women in general have not been taught how to love themselves . We have been taught never let them see you sweat… it is a sign of weakness. Our society has placed the expectation that mothers are all sacrificing. Black women are always on guard and on auto pilot. And we are all taught we are always competing with other women. Trust is a huge issue for black women. There are so many issues we as black women are faced with. Always told we have to be better than… fill in the blank at the end of that. Think about how we are not taught to put ourselves first. Why Would We Have To Be Told To Place the Mask on Ourselves First Before Our Children.???! I am glad the conversation is being had. Being honest with friends and family and being vulnerable is a huge leap of faith. Too many people bring it back up or it is used against us. Understanding, Empathy, and kindness are a must for us to start healing AND REALIZING OUR WORTH. Your topic and suggestions are great. I hope they help someone on their journey to healing and self love. This was just my 5 cents. lol Oh and the music 🎶 was a bit loud to hear everything you were discussing. Take care and keep having the conversation. Oh and it is so wonderful to see you all grown up. 😊Be Blessed and stay safe!!
Thank you for discussing such necessary topics! Majority of what was discussed was basically my life. I definitely had that sister circle that I truly appreciated. We should check on each other. You never know what someone else is going through. It took a long time for me to Love on Myself. I'm still in the process 😊 My favorite part of this video is before starting a relationship, start 1 with yourself. Love on yourself. Establish love for self. I love this!!! It was actually hard for me because I was so busy caring for others (children & ex). Thank you! 🎉❤
So happy to see and hear a young woman speak on this topic. Much needed because emotional support is needed among black women who’s been giving this tiring responsibility of “ holding it down” aka strong. We need safe places to take a respite from life’s challenges. Self care such as therapy to let that home be unclean is necessary. Love on yourself as much as you do for others. Thank you 🙏🏾 for this!!👏🏾👏🏾
Yesss👏🏾👏🏾I love it.. let’s look at being vulnerable as a strength not a weakness! Yes when you’re NOT alright, learn to be honest and say .. yes I’m NOT alright or say I need help!🙌🏾
Omg. This was so necessary!!!!! Agree with all. Love the pointers even as a women from the older generation! Great job!
This was awesome! I agree, we women take on a lot. We try to do everything in a day for every but ourselves. It’s so important to take time out and love on ourselves. You gave some great ideas too! I cracked up abt Groupon because Mother loves a deal 😂 😂
