Driving a Mercedes G-Wagon from Jhb to Cape Town | The Ultimate Road Trip! Yes, I went Off-Road!

In this video, you join me on a recent trip where I drove a Mercedes-Benz G400d from Jhb to Cape Town, the long way! Visiting some of South Africa’s most beautiful places, seeing the Namaqualand flowers and Augrabies Falls. Yes, the G-Wagon went off-road too, when last did you see that???

  1. I thoroughly enjoyed this G-wagon road trip. The vehicle was put to the ultimate test, tarmac, gravel, rock crawling, river crossing.I love it.This is how you test an expensive SUV,so that you know exactly what you are buying in an SUV.Awesome road trip brother.

  2. A friend has a still perfectly original Geländewagen from 1981, and she looks and drives like a new truck. He just did an 8000km Kgalagadi desert trip without missing a beat. I am getting a brand new G400d this week, to be used on dirt roads and tracks.

  3. Very Very weak video, does nothing for me personally. The young guy as presenter is very much engratiating himself, speaks a lot about the car can do this, can do that, but no visuals to demonstrate such claims. "Putting the car into Desert Mode" for sand corrugations, my word what a foolish statement and a foolish thing to do. There is very very little spoken about the technicalities of this vehicle, and as an example why Mercedes went from a solid bean front axle to a independent front axle suspension system and what are the advantages and disadvantages. What about the diesel engine, pretty much about said nothing at all. No this youngster is definitely not a credible motoring presenter at all. It appears he has little knowledge about the car, its uses, and then what is the price at over R3 million of this "ENTRY LEVEL" Mercedes "G WAGON", I suppose thats 'OKAY", and what are the comparisons and capabilities to other 4×4 vehicles in this price range: Land Rover, Land Cruiser, Nissan, Hilux etc etc. He does no service to the brand Gelandenwagen, which over many many years has become a ledgendary and very capable 4×4 and off road vehicle. Such a pity and an opportunirty lost. My view as a season explorer (Africa on 4 Wheels)

  4. @GregDennisReviews Schöckl is in the state of Styria in Austria – near the city of Graz, where the G-Class is actually manufactured. Fun fact – Dr. Ferdinand Porsche was also born in Austria. Mercedes-Benz and Porsche are both based in Stuttgart, Germany.

The G400d is my pick over the G63 AMG👍🏽

  5. Man, What a great video. This is my 2nd time watching your content (1st one was the Jaguar F-Type review) and you have gained a new fan. Thank you for the quality content and not just taking us through a car review but very in-depth and personal. Keep up the great work and surely will be checking out all your stuff past, present and future.

  6. Lekker road trip and you have showed me a different route to go down to Cape town.I personally like the fact that it's not touch screen, they are very figgity & for such a tough vehicle o think it suits it,plus getting the screens dirty with your fingers.Fuel economy it's a heavy car so it makes sense.thanks for taking us with you enjoyed it
