Some people say the Trooper should have had reflective clothing on and his cruiser should of been in the lane he was removing debris from. Or he should of waited for another cruiser or road crew.
Bottom line is, the driver who hit the officer broke Scott's Law.
He didn't move over( which he might not be able to ) he failed to reduce speed( slow down ) and be prepared to stop if necessary. Lights on cruiser were activated.
The ISP needs to push for stiffer fines and revoke a person's license for life and serve time if proven it was a preventable accident that takes a life. Scott's Law was updated Jan 2017 to include all vehicles along side the road with 4 ways / Flashers on.
Sad but how did he behave during the covidiocy just a few short years ago? Did he harass, cite or arrest those who refused to wear masks or other unconstitutional "mandates?" Was he just "following orders?"
These are hard questions that need to be asked before making martyrs out of these people. They aren't all noble heroes.
For starters, every state should have front and rear license plates. In 2020 there were 21 states that had front and rear plates, and now there are 31 states.Every driver ,s license plate number can be captured.and if there are stll deivers who ignore the move over law like I heard the reporter say,the penalties have to be raised dramatically. Also law enforcement needs to change their sentiments on cameras. Many times when I watch police chases,I will count the amount of 4 wheelers and sadly supposedly professional drivers, and ignoring this law is not acceptable! 28 minutes in one of the videos there were 21 cars, and 9 semi,s!
This is happening way to often and very preventable so sad very sad right before Christmas day my deepest sympathies and prayers to his family and community and the ISP may the Good Lord wrap u in his loving arms Rest in Paradise Sir thank u for your service🙏🙏🇺🇲
Damn wtf rest in peace this is happening way too often
Leave it to Will County: I thank God every day for moving as far away from Will County as I can possibly get, although the socialists keep gerrymandering districts which historically voted Republican.
20 years ago it was 65 mph, state police were sitting on most of the dividers running radar, semis were actually doing their posted speed of 60 mph, they wrote tickets left and right, the judges didn’t throw them out, now 80 and 55 are 90 mph death traps, the road construction never gets finished, everything is constantly tore up, nobody is ever responsible for their actions. Illinois is a POS. There’s your answers, start there. That whole corridor sold all its beautiful farmland to these internode warehouses that are tax free. The increased truck traffic is insane. The subdivisions brought all the Chicago and suburb garbage out here to us. With them came all their aggressive driving and filth. How about start with slowing it down. Investigate district 5 and see if they really only have the budget for 2 troopers working traffic. If we got money for all these illegals, it needs to stop and go to state police to help them. Fire all these judges and state’s attorneys that dismiss all the violations. Prayers for that trooper.
no one is ever in custody
When you have stupid people driving like absolute idiots, this is no surprise. I see this all the time.
Unfortunately I see this personally almost every time a police or emergency vehicle is pulled over to the side of the road with it's flashing lights on. People don't reduce their speed or switch lanes, I mean it's one of the first rules of the road you're taught in Driver's Education. You really have to protect yourself by driving extra cautiously because it seems most drivers today are too busy looking at their phones to pay attention to their driving.
RIP, unfortunate news heading into Christmas.
