As a person who was watching mma clips on 56k and was training before zuffa existed, i find the proliferation of YouTube mma and bjj experts to be extremely annoying, for example bjj purple belts doing instructional. When I started, you might have a purple belt instructor at your school bc he was literally the only non white belt in your entire area. But he wasn’t on the internet giving instructionals, he was only at your school teaching out of necessity and had the blessing of the black belt who lived in Brazil still. Most of these mma commentators I see now strike me as WWE dorks who got into mma 2 years ago and now think everyone needs to hear their stupid opinion. But hey, that’s Ariel helwani in a nutshell, so what do I know.
