DRC: M23 in Bukavu amid applauses and selfies – and locked doors – BBC Africa

In a key strategic breakthrough, Rwandan-backed M23 rebels now control the main cities of both North and South Kivu, having taken Bukavu in the last few days and Goma, weeks back. While some Bukau residents seemed to welcome the troops, others told the BBC they may have only been doing so out of fear of reprisals.

  1. Are the DRC people welcoming the M-23 to take over the administration of their town???
This looks like a revolution and loss of power and control by the government forces…
If this is how they are widely accepted, it means they are more accepted than the current regime…
    🤔

  2. There's no reason to blame the M23 that we should rather late Mobutu who caused the chaos in the DRC when he colluded with the Belgian forces to take the life of late Patrick Lumumba innocently while he was officially elected and endorsed!
