If I become a Muslim I will continue to eat pork. Why? Eating pork is not enough to send me to hell. Eating is to sustain the body. Pork is an unclean animal but eating it does not send you to hell. It just makes you unclean. God does not condemn someone for eating pork. For instance, if a whole nation only eat pork but bear fruit of righteousness, mercy, grace, love, etc, compare to a nation who ban pork but speaks destruction to the unbelievers, of the two which nations do you suppose God wants to be His reflection representing His beauty and glory?

I guess it is not totally impossible that someone who starting believing in a foreign religion could after a while find it to be lies and turn on it. However, if it was not like totally corrupt I'd say he was untrustworthy. And to that effect even Westerners attempting to go Islam would be in danger of harm because of this kind of guy. If the moment it changed was he was disallowed combat that would not really be enough, but I am hoping it is in place of something else in the story.
I see a lost soul and think he'll join whatever group will facilitate an outlet for the adrenaline thrill he seeks through fighting he mentioned at the start. A small correction on the report, a Muslim woman wearing the Hijab may take it off momentarily in front of a man she intends to marry so he can see her. It's not taboo in that context.
