‘Don’t wake me up from this dream’ – Ogu excited leading Nigeria to victory
The 30-year-old was afforded the opportunity to lead the Super Eagles against the Lone Stars much to his delight
John Ogu is full of excitement after leading Nigeria to a 2-1 victory over Liberia in an exhibition game on Tuesday.
Goals from Simeon Nwankwo and Henry Onyekuru helped Gernot Rohr’s men clinch their second consecutive win in a friendly game Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium, Monrovia days after crushing Seychelles 3-0 in an African Cup of Nations qualifying game.
And Ogu has taken to the social media to show his delight after captaining the three-time African champions against a Geroge Weah-led side.
“Don’t wake me up from this dream,” Ogu wrote on Instagram.
“Captain the Super Eagles of Nigeria with such Wonderful talents in a game against Liberia with the President of Liberia on the pitch and the only African player to win the Ballon d or.
“I will never forget this day in my life .. I feel blessed,” he concluded.

The Super Eagles will now shift their focus to their next African Cup of Nations qualifying game against Libya on October 9.
