MOST EXPATS ARE JUST DEALING WITH SO-CALLED REAL ESTATE REPS AND NOT RESEARCHING THE TECHNICAL OR LEGAL ASPECTS. THEY ARE ALMOST ALL THINKING IN TERMS OF WESTERN LAND PURCHASES, WHERE YOU OWN THE LAND OUTRIGHT.
MOST ARE SO EXCITED ABOUT BUILDING A HOUSE CHEAPLY, THEY ARE PAYING MONEY TO PEOPLE CLAIMING TO BE THE LAND SELLERS WITHOUT ANY PROOF TGHEY HAVE THE LEGAL STANDING TO SELL OR LEASE IT. AND MOST EXPATS ARE NOT CLEAR ON
LEASEHOLD" AND "FRFEEHOLD" TERMSN OR ELIGIBILITY. IT IS BECOMING A BIG SCANDAL, A WILD WEST LAND RUSH OF SALES HYPE AND MISINFORMATION.
THEY ARE NOT HIRING AN ATTORNEY TO MAKE SURE THE LAND DEAL IS VALID OR LEGAL. I LIVE4 IN NEW YORK CITY, AND WHEN I LOOKED INTO LAND IN GHANA AND FOUND OUT IT WAS ONLY A LEASE, AND NOT AN OUTRIGHT OWNERSHIP, THAT WAS A DEAL BREAKER FOR ME.

@YenkoAfrica The question is. What happens to my Building/House/structure on the Leased Land after 50/99years lease, if the seller refused to renew the lease? For example in Nigeria and the USA, When you buy a plot of land it is yours forever as long as you pay your necessary taxes and Mortgages. Leasing here in Ghana is a distorted term disguised as ownership and many diasporans are confused. I think you did not answer the question @kings1372 asked properly that is why I am asking again.
A word to Caribbean diaspora who actually own land in Jamaica. Do not sell our parents land that has been in the family for years. You can return to Jamaica and pay any back taxes but in Ghana your are lease holder not an owner. I'm very grateful for the knowledge.
