  1. Maphorisa is talking about mechanical rights. Meaning whoever owns the studio has mechanical rights to the masters. Its legal and artists need to be read up and spectators need to read up before making unfounded statements.

  2. I fully agree with Maphorisa, thats what a recording deal is, its basically studio time, so if you’re getting free studio time, you don’t own jack📌💯

  3. Maybe there’s something I’m missing about this Maphorisa story. So the artist brings their own technical team and owns their intellectual property but because they recorded in Phori’s studio their work now belongs to Phori? Why doesn’t he charge an hourly rate for artists to use his studio instead? Maybe I’m not understanding the story fully.

  4. But Phorry charges people for the recording sessions right? If so thatonry should cover the costs..unless if its a free recording then i would totally agree that he owns that shit

  5. Phori owns any or all the work being done his studio, not to mention mixing and mastering and the engineering of the projects. Who pays for all that? Nje fela ana thusa to get artists careers a proper kickstart, then one day when you guapped enough and own all the equipment needed for a studio you can call the shots too
