Are you seriously whining about a $300 entry fee? It costs between 800 to 1500 to sign up for any of the sled dog races in Alaska. Iditarod cost $4000 to sign up. All this does not even begin to account for our expenses during the race. Let alone to get there….to go to the kobak. 440, you have to ship your 14 dogs, sled, and all your gear/food via airplane. You pay by the pound. And then you get to ship everybody back. For Iditarod or the Yukon quest is between 15 to $30000 and up to $50000 if you're very competitive. Instead of sleeping in a comfy hotel bed you get to sleep outside on straw at fifty below. I'm 2019 in the Yukon quest. I was sleeping outside on straw with my dogs, no tent at −80. Then not to mention the countless hours time and frostbite you experience by training for the prior 3 months. Close the bridge! Make them pay for it. If it was my tax money, I would demand that too.
