I like Dr. K, but the scientific skeptic in me is not ok with the ayurvedic references.

@annielaurienichols1166

48:10 randomized controlled trials are heavily biased too – very white, male, and western. It’s been proven that a huge number of meds don’t work for women, e.g.
See Invisible Women (Caroline Criado Perez) for an overview

Interesting to me that western medicine is on this vibe of "better to have the foundation of randomized controlled data on 98374892734 other people" when i am ONE SINGLE PERSON. 🥲 idk how a persons SPIRIT doesn't tell them thats wrong.
and him asking why eastern people don't like randomized controls but then KNOWING the western people WON'T do the individualized approach is kinda funny.

The irony of having the brain 🧠poster in front of Dr. Mike and the heart 🫀poster in front of Dr. K

+1000 respect to Dr Mike and – 200 Rep from Dr K. Dr Mike really raised valid concerns and questions without thinking about "hurting anyone's feelings".

And as someone who is highly educated and intelligent like Dr K, I really expected him to do better. Dr K is is extremely bias towards ayurvedik medicine and I don't know how he is still confused about some of the fundamental scientific processes. The way he argued kinda reminded me about religious apologetics when they talk about religion and how "science is only catching up to the religious teachings". I bet Dr K is extremely religious as well.

It’s weird that it is so hard for Dr. Mike to understand Eastern medicine. He seems stumped to open his mind and translate Eastern medicine to Western medicine. Being a science-based person, but also coming from an East Asian culture, this doesn’t seem hard. Western medicine IS gearing towards “designer” medicine and health that caters to the individual patient—acknowledging that different patient will have different manifestations of illness and treatment. Especially when we input more datapoints into AI and use parallel computing, maybe the development of further quantum computing.

This is my ideal image of small talk in a social situation as someone with ASD😂

This conversation really shows how much western and eastern consciousness is largely not overlapping. One is fragmented and mechanistic and the other is holistic. Ayurvedic medicine isn't a system of treatments for specific conditions, but a way of supporting the body in a holistic way to heal itself. Each herb works in so many ways and depends on the body that receives it.

@ChetanGuptaYoutube

What is thought?
This you are reading while closing your lips inside, this speaking is thought.
Don't u guys know this simple thing- yeah science is evolving. Keep going : i'm from future😂.

Im 35mins in and i normally like mike but he so far is coming across judgmental and generally less intelligent and more narrow minded than the person hes sitting opposite. its not quite disrespectful but it has some of those undertones.

Dr k is too much 😂 the water bottle faith analogy. I love the way he frames things and pushes back. Such a great conversation.

It's somehow both frightening and ridiculous how Dr Mike has absolutely no clue about traditional methods or holistic approaches. Really absurd. Western medical doctor here btw.

I like Dr.K but what I noticed is that he wasn't giving clear and succinct answer to Dr.Mike's direct questions rather making the answer verbose and deviate from the topic. Also, for every demerit of Ayurveda he was bringing meditation is not a pertinent way to prove its efficacy.

I'm truly an advocate for individuality especially in the field of psychiatry, my mom is a psychiatric patient and every time we go to a doctor they just give generalized medicines, change dosage but never understand the individual patients.

"Lack of refinement" comes across as contempt.

@rajalakshmirishi9964

It is baffling how Eurocentric the thought process is. The reasons why scientific studies have not been done rigorously are 2-fold. At least from an Indian perspective, the complete dismantling of culture and the foisting of coloniality in the Indian minds has alienated us from our systems of Knowledge. If people have been brainwashed, and treated as less human and intelligent for centuries, it is only natural that their systems die down and don't produce thousands of research papers. Another key point is that science involves money. Who will fund studies on Ayurvedam? The moment a government thinks of it, they receive backlash for spending precious resources on quackery. Western imperialism has killed many cultural traditions. Can't ask why they haven't progressed since the last 500 years under these circumstances. The question is how did they survive years of attack and how do we bring back the meaningful parts.
