Death toll in southern China highway collapse rises to 36


The death toll in a highway collapse in southern China has risen to 36, as emergency teams continue efforts to recover cars from the scene.
“As of 5:30am on May 2 … 36 people have died, and 30 people have been injured,” state news agency Xinhua reported, adding that the injured were not in life-threatening condition.

  4. That landslip was clearly caused by the way the road was constructed. No earth movement uphill of the road and the slope doesn't rise much higher than the elevation of the road. One can see that the embankment reinforcement stops before the landslip. Commie rubbish. I hope their infrastructure projects overseas are of a higher quality than those at home. Some nations (England) let these incompetents build nuclear power stations for them!!!! Jesus wept.

  5. That looks like a newish road and they've just laid a road surface on sand or clay on a steep slope. It's always cheaper to do something badly. What a load of rubbish. If this is the quality of their infrastructure in the disputed territories in the South China Sea then it'll probably all wash away in short order.
