  1. We make the epic journey from Kinshasha, capital of the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo in Central Africa), via Bandaka, Lisala, and Mbumba to Kisangani, the third-largest city in this vast country. The only way to move between the cities is by boat or plane. And I think it goes without saying, most people do not own or have access to a plane. So boat it is.

We join 1500 people on board the 'Gbemani', sailing along the Congo River. Without freshwater, electricity, or medicines, it is a perilous voyage. A nurse, herself traveler on the boat, looks after her fellow passengers, even performing a terrifying operation to save a man's foot without an anesthetic. But amongst the trials and tribulations, come moments of joy, including the birth of a baby, named after the ship. Gbemani.
    An awe-inspiring journey. Enjoy!

  2. Ever think when the engines break down that maybe God did it for a reason. Maybe something worse up the river at the pace they were going was waiting for them.

  3. A life too dangerous, gracious mama Africa! Those engineers and the nurse that helped things to go Normal need be applauded and given more sponsorship to strengthen these careers further

  4. The best part about this documentary is that the captain is the only one who can navigate the river without crashing the boat on all of the underwater obstacles hidden just beneath the surface, despite all of these taking down countless boats, because nobody has ever bothered to make a map.

Sums up, africa, pretty well tbh.

  5. I can see the port cranes towering behind them, it breaks my heart to see them just sit there in disrepair. Is it an inability to get parts? No repair technician? Just total governmental collapse? Ports bring in so many of a nations supplies, trade, logistics. How can a nation be run in any realistic meaningful way whatsoever without cranes to move supplies and trade in the port? It's absolute insanity to see a nation operate like this. As a blonde hair, blue eyed male maintenance technician I am experiencing extreme levels of discomfort viewing this footage. It needs a warning label for white people before watching.

  6. This is very heartbreaking. Only very few African leaders care about their people. This is a land very rich in mineral resources and her citizens suffer this much 😢. I feel for them. May there be a new dawn for Africans in Jesus' Name.
