Day 1 of Somalia – Exploring old streets of Mogadishu 2023 πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡΄

Today is day one exploring Old Districts Hamarwayne within Mogadishu. It’s old streets and very historic. It reminds us what old Somalia used to be before the war. Obviously there’s more changes but this is one of the most historic districts still around.

  7. The thing you can’t help notice is Somalia has a large youth population so you see teens and kids everywhere.I believe 70% of the population in under 30. Even whilst still having the reported highest infant mortality rate in the world.
This can be a problem or as asset
If they get a good consistent education it’s a huge asset, but particularly in business and technical skills
Because you can create jobs yourself without relying on the government
If they’re not educated their can be no real progress you will have a large poor and ignorant populace, high crime rates, illness and a good supply of recruits for militants etc all issues will perpetuates conflict due to the desperation and lack of having something to really protect and exacerbate every thing that makes a country poor. All that to say to do something about the youth. It’s not about the building and malls those are just products and small signs of what can happen at a large scale.
