And the club sign them to massive long term contracts that player after player runs down while not only gradually losing their drive but becoming selfish, egotistical, and not willing to listen to managers after the honeymoon periods wears off. The cumulative effect is the club culture has just become toxic and rotten no matter who the manager is and which batch of players are in the squad.
