  1. Hello friends. There was LOTS for Eric and I to talk about as fellow nerds, and entrepreneurs. He's got great insights and a unique perspective on race and politics. It's a long one so here's the chapters if there's a particular topic that interests you from our discussion:

    Outline:
    [0:00] Why do comics matter?
[8:15] The Flash, Batman, and the multiverse mess
[15:10] Whatโ€™s the right role for politics in comics?
    [22:11] Race-swapping vs. meaningful representation
[27:17] Is shallow wokeness on the way out?
[36:27] Learning how to hustle as a young creative
[40:44] The Rippaverse Code of Ethics
[47:17] Young entrepreneurs need to fully commit
[57:07] Media consumption and information overload
[1:01:41] Storytelling with a moral perspective
[1:09:04] Ericโ€™s journey from leftist to libertarian
[1:20:49] Race hustlers discourage all children
    [1:28:07] What is anarcho-capitalism?
[1:36:01] Echo chambers, division, and truth
[1:45:30] The only freedom that canโ€™t be taken
[1:48:14] Ericโ€™s childhood and family background
    [1:55:30] Faith, optimism, and impact

  2. A black batman or gay superman wonโ€™t erase or replace a hetero-white superman. Itโ€™s just a variant. Chill the f- out.

This shouldnโ€™t be an excuse for lazy writing but this wannabe ultra progressivism that aligns with homophobic &/or racist ideologies isnโ€™t earning any moral high ground.

ALL COMIC BOOK SALES are declining. ALL of it. Stop swinging at comic book fans just to appeal to wannabe purists.

  3. Wokeness? Isn't this the guy who hired the same incest sisters who promoted satanic ideals and neo feminism in their films? Get back to me when they're removed.

  4. Have to jump in for another comment here regarding the "What is truth?" question – and this is coming from a former epistemology professor: The truth is what happened. That's it. Everything else is theory or prediction or fantasy or imagination. "What happened?" is the the only rational, possible question to ask in regards to truth. And yes, it's "perspectival" etc – but not really. We have to be willing to be the objective witness to our own experience and events.

  5. At 1:15 – this is why I've noticed most Black people I meet from impoverished, difficult backgrounds are SO MUCH MORE FUNCTIONAL AND MENTALLY HEALTHY than the spoiled, rich white kids I knew who are completely useless, unproductive adults: their parents made a point of SHELTERING them from reality – and that included anything as "lowly" as a job when they were in school. But that left them with zero life experience or knowledge about people – and really gullible to "ideas" and "experts" – they didn't trust their own knowledge or life experience, because they had none. Thanks for the convo.

  6. That was very interesting! I'm not into comic books, but I believe I'll grab one of Eric July's works just to see if I can kindle the small flame that I have left for superheroes. Thanks Dad .

  7. I find it very satisfying that all the entrepreneurs that are bucking trends and being successful have read/watched the likes of Freidman and Sowell. Not the worst echochamber to be in.
