  1. Grammy is owned by who and Headies owned by who and how's it funded… Do they vote is the heading if they do will it be like grammy's, does the headies have enough categories like songwirting on a project or songwriting for a movies/games ? can the headies affliate with the grammy to be a contributing influence to African related sounds on conculting level, how many Nigerians working professionals are members of the Grammy 43,000 voters… this and many questions should be answered…and thats why many Nigerians including Cobahms will never know… decentralize the Headies, make it African abit, allow registres music professions and other intrest groups/individual qualified fans to access voting rights based on rubics asseement system…rotate the host country across Africa hot spots based on most awardee from previous event…or shuffle it between Africa and America edition…

  2. The F..king Africans, have abandoned their own and all they care about is validation from the white man. You people don’t respect your own awards, millions of artists across Africa with a diverse genre of music from north to south East to west all scrambling to get one award from the white man. What happened to kora awards that used to be the biggest in Africa. You people don’t respect your own especially the people that call them selves Nigerias that are so quick to sell out to the white man.

  3. Nigerian musicians lost Granny Awards may be the judges are from the Nigerian Judiciary. Is that not these commenter are trying to guess. Our culture? How much of it is portrayed by the music the Nigerians?

  4. What did Burna Boy win it for? Non-colourism?

Grammys have been plagued with irregularities but how why do we see an individual award as a national thing? And why do we think we must always win every time like we are the only ones in the world?

Are Grammys given based on popularity and commercial success?

There all time greats like Diana Ross, Bob Marley, 2Pac, Jimi Hendrix etc who don't even have a Grammy to their names, yet, it does add or reduce their legacies.

How many foreign artists do we nominate or even award in our own awards?

We need to realise that this is foremost an American award that is branching out to the rest of the world and also stop seeking validation from the outside.

If we want to always win, then we must promote our own shows and award ourselves all the time.

  5. What is wrong with Nigerians and their tribal sentiments? You should be gracious in defeat and congratulate Tyla the South African singer.
Nigerians think it is their birth right to win awards and I find that funny. Take the case of Asake trying to win a Grammy with a track called Amapiano a genre created by South Africans. Asake is a fraud and a copycat and not original. If anyone should win anything Amapiano , it should be a South African.
As for Burna Boy and Davido , maybe they are not as Global as you all think they are however popular they might be in Nigeria.

  6. cobhams, sorry to say, but headies is even more biased than the Grammys. At least Burnaboy has won 1 with his own project and Wizkid and Tems have won 1 with collaborations. Burnaboy performing at the world stage is also a plus, you can't ask for much more than that as it's a foreign award.

  7. Ola, I am here in America. Colorism here goes all the way up the ladder..& as simple and childish as it sounds.. Tyla got it literally because of colorism. The idea is to keep toying with African-Americans and the African diaspora’s minds period. Psychologically, the elites who run the media here , know exactly what they are doing here . Their power is behind the scenes… so much so , that we all gather to try and figure out why these injustices are happening and we come up with so many different deep thinking reasons , instead of looking directly at the root of the problem and understanding we’re eating bait. They gave bait , & now everyone is looking around questioning while the answer is so simple and right in our faces.

  8. Why is it worrisome? Beyonce has not won the album of the year, and she is still working….let us go and rest abeg. Kudos to all the hard work to making Afrobeats mainstream….keep it that way. Stop looking for validation… above all, don't let the Recording Academy turn African artists to crabs and pitch you against each other. It is a game.

  9. Nigeria artist should stop using amapiano sound is not our,we can play it in club were ever but not music vedio is ridiculous ,they are killing afrobeat .

  10. All these awards are funny, in 1998 Kate Winslet was nominated for 3 oscars but won now from then i know is not something one should put their heart into, as for davido he is ancious to win one and join his fellow artiste like burna and wizzy but shouldnt lose sleep over it!
