The hair raising climb to the Abuna Yemata Guh Monastery in Northern Ethiopia. Pilgrims take this dangerous climb up a 90 degree cliff face to show there devotion to there religion.

This place will be ruined soon enough. It used to be a religious destination strictly for the devoted. Now Western (and Chinese) tourists will list it as one of their "must sees" so they can share it on Facebook to impress their friends. (Lots of selfies, to be sure.) There is no respect, as indicated by the backwards baseball cap.
I couldn't do it. Just watching the video gives me anxiety.
Okay, so climbing up is not easy, what about climbing down or there is an hidden slide on the othe side ?
its amazing how those foot holds were formed, probably from people climbing them over and over again for thousands of years.

this is one of the greates places I have ever been. and the most incredible thing is the beauty and calm of the church, once you are arrived there.
