  1. chiwetel did an awesome job as scar he made scar not just a villain but, gritty, wounded, angry, and his voice which was deeper and showed anger in every word he said. Although i will still love Irons more

  2. His tone was flat, timing was off, his "Be Prepared" was terrible! Jeremy Irons had soul and sharp, evil tone! I can give a million example why Jeremy was so iconic and why Chiwetel was a failure. Just compare the "long live the king" when Scar pushes Mufasa. Terrible casting just freakin terrible

  3. I feel sorry for this new voice actor of Scar. Everyone is all bashing on him saying "he will never be the same as Jeremy Irons". But I feel like he did a fine job as Scar. While his voice isn't as deep as Jeremy Irons', it still is quite cold and I liked it.

I admit I did bash Chiwetel a little bit myself at first… but now I really appreciate him.
The one thing which I really hated about the remake was the hyenas. I really missed the hyenas being stupid, comedy gold. They weren't even remotely likeable characters in the remake. And it's not because of the new voice actors.(although the original voice actors were perfect)

  4. He did AWESOME being Scar! I love that he made his own version of the character and how he made Scar more terrifying from how he delivered some of his lines slowly and his deep and menacing voice made Scar even more of a bada$$..and I love the "Lions eat AFTER hyenas and they don't leave much behind" line..I'm like "dayuum he gonna starve em' to death!" And he just walks off and Sarabi watches the hyenas devour that antelope..I think the cast did an awesome job on this movie! But Chiwetel, for me, was my favorite out of all of them! Dont get me wrong Jeremy Irons is a legend and I love his performance as Scar in the original, but Chiwetel has a little spot in my heart..overall this movie was bomb af and I'll give it an 8/10

  5. So many people say Jeremy Irons should have reprised his role the way James Earl Jones did but on retrospection, I can understand why another actor was chosen. Irons' performance is wonderfully melodramatic and theatrical. He relishes every scene he's in, especially "Be Prepared" and it works perfectly in context of a cartoon. But in a computer animated film where all the other actors' emotions are toned down for realism, he might stand out like a sore thumb as the only character who wears them on his sleeve.

Chiwetel Ejiofor's Scar is more cold and menacing without the gentlemanly persona that makes you understand why he pulled the wool over Simba and Mafusa's eyes for so long. I do believe some of his line readings could have had more verve and passion like "Long Live the King" “Run away and never return” and the scene where he's begging Simba to spare him when he realizes his rule is over but overall, his performance works better in context of the remake because it blends in with the darker, more gritty atmosphere.

  6. I just came back from the film and have to say I underestimated C.E. I realized Jeremy irons’ scar was kind of comical, while C.E. Was kind of terrifying. 😂

  7. Stop comparing him with Jeremy Irons. Jeremy is a legend and his voice in the original is incomparable. We all know that. But Chi's performance was absolutely great in the new movie. He brought HIS version of Scar. Esp during the final scene where scar tries to push simba to the edge and the scene where he says "lions eat after hyenas" both were incredible. I just loved him. He was great !
